Back in Virginia - The first month

Well, everyone's favorite PITA (at times) is back home in Virginia and here is my progress report on my return to the Old Dominion.
My first day back was the night of the infamous storm and I slept in the dark without power in a hot bedroom.
However things were rough the first couple of weeks mainly because my new roommate was dealing with a trumatic breakup and falling out. Also, my best friends were very busy and could not hang out on weekends. Money was tight with paying off all my moving expenses. So it was rough. Since I am also working at the last company I worked for before leaving for Kentucky, I had to humble myself (something the D hates) a bit.
But slowly I'm finding my way. I got into a meetup group and am making new friends. I'm making the rounds at work. My roommate is coming around and we are getting along just well. Did I mention I only have a 20 minute commute, which is enviable in the DC area?
So I definitely feel moving back to Northern VA was the right decision. I talked a lot of trash when I left about not coming back. But at the end of the day I feel comfortable being back home and think this will pay off down the line.

Very interesting story. I on the other hand did live in Northern Va 15 years ago for about a year. I started a phone business with my brother but unfortunately we did not get along. We lived near Manases (I do not remember how to spell it) Knokesville was the town. Interestingly enough it is so small many people in other ares of N.Va. did not know where it was.
About DC , you say your commute was only 20 minutes ? On a good day it took that long to get to DC but at the end of the day the traffic literally did not move. What part of DC do you work in?Posted 08-10-2012 at 10:09 PM by mindscape8088
