The End of an Era

Posted 11-08-2008 at 07:58 AM by Drouzin

Feeling a little sad this week because my bud, C, is leaving for MS this week. I knew C before Katrina as the rockabilly bartender at our fav spot.

After Katrina I came to know C as a friend, and confidant. Our little group sat together day after day, hour after hour trading Katrina war stories with each other and any out of towners who wanted to listen. C always had a hug for someone who needed it.

The place a haven for us all. We walked in and were able to leave behind the brown landscape, Katrina smell, checkpoints, curfews, M-16's, sucides, and divorces behind. B would bring his gutar and we would make up funny songs with Katrina themes; we created a new Louisiana government with C being the Head of State, and T&T held Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners for the majority who had no family left in town that year.

Oddly enough I miss those days. C's leaving feels like the end of an era and somehow I feel there should be a Green Day song playing in the background. I've got her number and new address, but it's just not the same. I'm gonna miss her; we all are.
