Drive Cross COuntry

Hello everyone!
I am going to drive from San Francisco to Watertown, New York and back. I will be leaving the week of Christmas and returning the 3rd week of January. I was wondering if there was anyone out there that could give me some tips? This is my first time driving that far. I have driven from LA to San Francisco countless times though, but that is not really the same as driving to NY! I will be bring my two doggies with me, a husky and a shepard. Is this a possible thing to do in the winter? My husband will be with me on the ride there, but I will be alone the ride back, besides the dogs. Any tips would be helpful!

Driving from Indiana to Washington State in January
I would like to hear what kind of responses you get, as we will be driving from Indiana to Washington State in January with 2 dogs. We are looking for the best route and tips too for getting through snow passes. We know the North Route is not an option this time of year. Thanks
