Y'all are likely going to get tired of reading my raps about the cool mornings, but you have to realize that I am still in awe of Maine's climate. After all, other than a brief winter in the NC mountains, I had been in the south -- in places where "summer" is a 9-month event -- since 1998 when I moved from Portland, OR to Austin TX.

So yeah, I am sitting here in Milo, Maine with all my doors and windows open and wearing SWEATS at present. Taking out the trash and hanging up the first bit of wash outside chilled me a bit; the early morning was cool and damp with a heavy dew still showing on the windows of the pickup and on the weeds around the clotheslines and sitting here working on the wildflower photos, well I just needed more than a light cotton housedress.

I know it will warm up later, and it should... it IS after all, summer. But one doesn't need to live in a sauna. 'Nuff said.

I am not sure what today holds. I do need to get on the phone and do some calling (shudder... HATE phones) first to check in with the advocate from the council for the aging for help with sorting out K's part D (which we finally seem to be about to get, but which doesn't cover one of his more costly meds) ... hummm... wonder where I put her number... and then to try once again to follow up on a FSBO sign I spotted yesterday on a house that looked interesting. BTW, want 100 acres? Have $119K to spend? I know where you can find it... And I need to get up with a potential client and write a proposal in response to an RFQ from the park service back in NC.

That's what I GOTTA do... what I want to do is get the table cleaned off -- again -- (did it yesterday, just in time to have to make supper) so that I can transfer some patterns to heavy paper and then start cutting out some scrubs pants for K and shorts for me... and spend some time spinning... and stay off my foot. Well I can do that on the phone too, I guess. I did a number on my toenail this morning hauling the heavy trash can (AMAZING how much weight a weeks supply of used cat litter can put in a little 10 gallon can!). I was fussing to K about wishing I had a cart some of these mornings to haul it down the drive, and then I realized that it is about the right size to sit on some of the small round things with casters that I have seen for holding large potted plants. Humm... will need to look at those more closely next time I am in Bangor, see if they might traverse our badly rutted, gravel drive.

But for now, 'tis time to put the water on for oats. The blueberries are calling me...

A slice of Americana. I hear you on the temp thing. This am I got up to take the pooch around the block and it was a tad chilly. Although the good part is that when it gets this wet, Watering the garden becomes a secondary chore! Aren't we lucky to live in Maine!

You sound like my kind of person and Maine sounds more like my kind of life. I live in Ga and so far can not relate to the people around me. I feel as though I live on Mars. However, I really think that the conditions and weather there in Maine would be more to my liking. I love to garden and find it difficult here in Ga. I also can not get enough of the cool weather and beautiful ocean. Fresh seafood is definately a plus. I am worried that if my husband were to make the move to Maine that ther would not be engineering work for him there. I will eventually be a hairdresser so I can get around this milestone. Any suggestions...Let me know..
    Bless you and yours..
