Welcome To Case's Column
Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.
Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!
Regards,
case44

We Interrupt This Summer To Bring You....

.....one lulu of a cold front.
No, not cool front. This one was cold, the one that cranks up the outdoor A/C following upper 90s temps. Get this: We didn't even make it to 80 degrees this afternoon (77 was as high as it got, with overcast clouds overhead). This is August in North Texas, and on this very day, it couldn't even reach 80, let alone 90. Usually at this time of the year, the lows are 80 and the highs are 100 to 104. This was no ordinary summer day. Oh, and this morning's low? Try 64.
Hey, look, I'll take it any day.
You fellow North Texans had best enjoy this right now, because tomorrow, it gets back to the 90s with the sunshine coming back. Never got fooled by a summertime cold front; it's not like it's Arctic. I really don't want winter right now, but I wouldn't mind us winding the clock back to April so we can have spring again.

And, of course, reality did set in again on Friday. 90 degrees at 6:40 pm CDT.

Did we have something like this for a brief time last year? I think we were in the 60's or something like that.
