Welcome To Case's Column
Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.
Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!
Regards,

Freeway Makeovers All Over The Place In My Hometown
It seems everywhere I go, the place where I live is just permanently under construction. Concrete torn up, bridges demolished, old asphalt removed, new concrete poured, lanes to be striped, etc, etc. You name it, and the good folks at the Texas Department of Transportation have their construction workers beaming at the idea of rebuilding new things. Pun intended. A time to tear down, but usually followed by a time to build up.
In my area alone, there is no shortage of places which are getting new freeway or tollway lanes, new ITS equipment, and relocation of exit and entrance ramps, not to mention the accompanying signage. Just look no further than these websites for the skinny on the Metroplex metamorphosis.
Dallas District Key Projects (Planning) | Keep It Moving Dallas
35Express Project
Midtown Express
North Tarrant Express Highway Construction Project by NTE Mobility Partners North Tarrant Express (NTE) Construction Project by NTE Mobility Partners
All these things just to keep a Texas roads fanatic busy while having no new news on Interstate 69, which is well outside my area. While the I-69 planners and builders live happily ever NAFTA, more projects abound elsewhere in a number of Texas cities. We're just trying to keep up with the growth, and when new roads do open up, everybody wants to take them. Everybody! It will be worth it when all is said and done.
And there's plenty of emphasis on the done part.

It's all over the place, and I can't wait until all of those projects are finished. I have to go around everything!
