Now that your unpacked and got to test drive the area for a bit, encountered some locals and yokels, and hopefully some actual people that moved to the area from your home town or state its time to list the likes you have of your new or semi-new, or heck if the area is your native home than by all means and ways list what you like! Y'all got it? Well here goes!

Weather! You like or not!
Year round flowers!
Long springs!
Longer Autumns!
Shorts year round! For the hearty ones that is.
Variety of sub divisions to chose from!
Snow is a neat event versus a ho-hum not again event!
No rust on older cars! Amazing if your from the Northeast!
Can fish year round without cutting holes in the water (ice) for us North Easterners!
Pretty country side is usually only 5 minutes or less from where you live anywhere in the triangle.
People R People. No matter what they say!
Day trip to Mountains!
Day trip to Ocean!
And in a lot cases no trip at all to the many lakes, ponds, river, and streams that spot the area!
Good food can be had by all and more is always welcome irregardless if they are called viddles or pickins!
Out away from the city lights the sky at night explodes with the many stars that fill the emptiness of space with the occasional flying star to catch a dream or two on!
Groceries can be cheaper but we all have to eat!

Sure it takes time to get use to this place, remember the place you came from was called home and that is never a easy place to replace! But give it time, explore the area and get involved and this place too will be your new home not only in name but in feeling!

May the triangle, RDU, RTP, Crossroads, the Quay, Wake Forest, Knightdale, Apex, Raleigh, Durham, Zebulon, Oxford, Mossisville, Franklinton, Youngsville, Chapel Hill, Henderson, ...seems like I am forgetting somewhere....????......Oh yea! and Cary, be with you!

Oh Tarheels! I forgot to number the above as I did say I would count thy ways!

Wake Forest, NC. located in Wake County NC. Some call it Wake's Forest of the Triangle....Ok maybe that's just me. But if you come from the North East, Wake Forest seems to fit. It has some rolling hills and many farming areas.

It has a small town feel but close to Raleigh, you could be down town Raleigh, depending on time of day in about 15 to 30 minutes. You can be at the Virginia border in less than an hour.

It has old Historical homes and some new subdivisions. It certainly worth a look see if your looking and seeing the area. It has transplants from New Jersey, New York, and many other NE State and Mid West and California and....well you get the idea people from all over this great country now calls Wake Forest home!

C'mon down, over, left, or right and check it out you may just like what you see.

Thursday February 4, 2016 and its a cloudy sprinkling 52 degrees outside. A keeper for early February for sure. Checking back with the temperature today where I grew up shows low 40's and that is really good for early February.

I can remember these type of winter days growing up. It still meant coat, hat, and gloves. It meant playing outside for recess and hanging outside after school without freezing our toes off! But as a kid I can't really remember being cold even when our fingers would hurt like crazy we weren't cold. Our fingers would hurt due to lack of blood in them but we kept sliding down the snow covered hill or snow covered steps. A quick run bck home and off with the frozen wet gloves and turn the hot water tap on and put our hands under it and after what seemed like an hour we had feeling back in our fingertips and the pain subsided.

Then it was 'MOM!' do we have anymore gloves? To which she would say where are yours? Moms.......But it was back outside and up to the top of the hill with a piece of cardboard or plastic and down we would go. Weeeee! Fantastic! Did that till it got dark which was before 6PM and home for diner. Only to repeat the process everyday of the winter or as long as the snow covered the hill and steps! Ye-haw!

Happy Thursday and hopefully this brought back some winter memories. What a great time to thank the one above for those times! Indeed.......thank you very much.

Now kick back, crank up the sound, relax, and enjoy the music!

Monday February 15, 2016 and its cloudy and now raining, the sleet and snow are over for the day, the drive in this AM was slow and not as slippery as I expected. Its up to 29 heading up to 32 so the ride home should be okay to.

The area schools are closed today so kids will have big ole smiles on their faces. About as big as we had in our day! Nothing like a Monday off for that extra long weekend. Even though it was an inside play day we still had a blast. In our basement we would travel to far out galaxies and fight those space aliens..... Our basement was filled with all kinds of machines my mom used for pressing clothes, washing clothes, dryer, and my Dad's workbench had all kinds of tools that a couple of kids could use to let their imagination run wild. These were the days of the Apollo missions to space and the moon. We were right there with those astronauts exploring the unknown of our imaginations!

We would only come back to reality when mom would yell down the lunch was ready. Hey even deep space travels have to eat to!!!!

Happy Monday and happy to think back to those days......just fantastic!

Here is the song for the day....turn up the sounds, set back, and just enjoy the music and the words......God is Great my friends!

Wednesday February 17, 2016 and its has turned sunny and 50 degrees. Sweet! Rain during the drive in and sunny at lunch.....its a keeper!

Speaking of keepers, its today word. Promise. Its a simple word but so very easy to lose and even harder to find. We all make promises for this and that and that and this but do we really keep them?

As a kid I remember promising my parents to do my homework, brush my teeth, do my chores, pick up after myself, and the list went on and on......even pulled the big promises out when I wanted something....oh! oh! If you buy me this or that I promise I will do that and this......really I will...

How fortunate we are that the one above keeps his promises. He promises eternal life if you truly believe he is your Lord and Savior. The rewards of his promise are so much greater than any promises we could ever make. The greatest gift of all is forgiveness when we don't keep our promises to him. How cool is that?

Happy Wednesday and I promise to give you food for thought and a smile or two with my words and songs.....I promise!!!

Tuesday March 15, 2016 and its a sunny day on the 70's after a night of rain and Hail! Hail I say! Good grief Charlie Brown, I said Hail.

I heard a few pings and had to get up and look out the window into the dark sky that was erupting with constant flashed on lightning. As if the heavens wanted to capture still shots of the Hail. Oh my!

The chunks of Hail kept getting larger and more frequent. I really thought a tornado could not be far behind but thanks to the one above it just rained and Hailed. Whewww! That was good.

But that was the most Hail I have seen in a long time, maybe ever. Strange weather for March indeed.

But all is right with the world of weather today!!!!
Sweet folded up umbrella, hopefully that is the last of the nasty weather for awhile.

Happy Tuesday and do you know where your Bible is? If you don't then find it. It you do then you had no worries in bad weather. The one above who knows and sees all will protect you for ever and ever. That is for sure....

Friday July 1, 2016 and its a party sunny 80's something day. Nice start to July! Well we just exited the first half of 2016. How come it seems like we just hit the year 2000! So many changes and rate is accelerating moment by moment.

Let me take off my 2016 hat for a moment and slip on my suede 1970 something hat. Whoa its been awhile since I tried this on for size. Now to think back to the 1970's so I can remember thinking what the 2000 something years would be like. Hmmmmmm....

We would all be flying from place to place like the Jetsons....almost within 20 years we will be there.

Our cars would drive on roads and air. We are almost there in fact the race is on for the first production driver less car.....

Our food would all come ready made....heat fast and eat. We are here! One can purchase any type of food and toss it into the microwave, touch a button or two and wham blam there you go mane! Hot cooked food.

Computers would run everything for us. Pretty much do already....could be survive without them?

We would be replaced by robots......we are getting close. Industry is working at record pace to replace human power with robot power. Next it will be in the home! Which leads me back to the Jetson's!

We never thought in the 1970's what a powerful force prescription Med's would become and how over 70% of the population are taking them. Never in our wildest dreams did we think the 2000's would look like it does today....

There was a lot of future reality on that show now wasn't there. If you are not familiar with that family from the future, hop on over to YouTube and check them out. Carton becomes reality....

The above are all the changes in our everyday lives. How about the changes at the human being level. 2016 we have men that are women and women that are men. We have a whole new group that are binary, not male nor female, just neutral.

We conflict all over the world but not really ever call it war, but that is what it is. They are based on hate and mistrust. They are based on misinformation and closed minds. That is so sad....but the same was true in the 1970's, 1950's, and 70A.D. and back to 436B.C. Must be part of our DNA as humans.

But as in 1970's and today and back as far as time itself there was and is and always will be love. We were given 10 very basic and simple rules to govern our lives with. They were not written by a Harvard Law Professor and they were not written by Uncle Charlie on his couch in front of the TV screen. No these were written by the one above and all he has ever asked is that we follow them.

The best one of all is 'Love thy neighbor as thyself.' If we can do that the hate, envy, deceit, lies, conflict, and UN-natural behaviors go away. Then love comes into our lives.

So, I will leave you with one thought as we enter into the back half of 2016. Make today better than yesterday and the day after that better than today and you will be well on your way to 'Loving your neighbors as theyself'.

Happy 4th of July weekend and Happiness starts in the mirror!

Wednesday July 13, 2016 and it sunny and low 90's! Typical summers day in the south. Sweet! Got to journey northward last week to see family. Trip was long both ways, coming and going but well worth it. First it was fantastic to sit outside and not have the humidity.

The sun followed us to the north and that was very nice. The humidity fell off somewhere in Virginia and that was even better. Brought back memories of those summer days gone by where it was sunny hot and not humid. Got to fish and hang out. Really nice.

Got to build bonfires in the evening and look up at the countless Stars in the sky. Away from the city lights so the stars were extra bright and plentiful. The conversation always seemed to wind back to the old days and the countless stories told around campfires. Stayed up longer then normal as it was vacation, right?

Got to see family that we only get to see once per year now if we are lucky enough. Seen one family member I have not see for over 5 years and that was pretty cool.

It sure was great to have a vacation away from the day to day grind and day to day issues. Just being on the car hour after hour with the one you love is reward enough. As miles passed conversations would flow with the traffic at times. Jammed up while other times silent for miles on end. Taking in the country side as it passed by.

All in all I can't think of a better way to take some time off and enjoy the thing we call life. Its passing by quicker then my car on Rt 95N that is for sure. It was a great time to get off and as they say smell the roses!

For all those thinking of taking a vacation, take it. For those that just came back, you know what I am talking about. For all those on the fence......fall off and take it!!

Happy Wednesday indeed and thankful for the one above who knows all, sees all, and keep us all in his sights.....thank you.

Kick back turn up the sound or put in the headphones and enjoy.......... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jqWt49o7R-k

Tuesday August 16, 2016 and its a red hot 90 something today. Not quite a 100 but much hotter than 90....but after 90 does it really matter? Speaking of matter, I came across some writings that Andy Rooney did. They are exactly what I expect from the late Andy Rooney. So much in so few words, please take a moment to read each one of them, and some of them a couple of times and really let them sink in. They are wonderful. Happy Tuesday and may the Lord Bless this day and everyday of your life.

Written by Andy Rooney, a man who had
the gift of saying so much with so few words.

Rooney has passed away but used to be on
    CBS's 60 Minutes TV
    show.

    I've
    learned....

    That the
best classroom in the world is at the feet of an elderly
    person.

    I've learned....
That when you're in love, it
    shows.

    I've learned
    ....

That just one person saying to me, 'You've made my
    day!' makes my day.

    I've
    learned....

That having a child fall asleep in your arms
is one of the most peaceful feelings in the
    world.

    I've
    learned....

That being kind is more important than being
    right.

    I've
    learned....

    That you
should never say no to a gift from a
    child.

    I've
    learned....

    That I
can always pray for someone when I don't have the strength to help him in any
    other way.

    I've
    learned....

That no matter how serious your life requires
you to be, everyone needs a friend to act goofy
    with.

    I've
    learned....

That sometimes all a person needs is a hand
to hold and a heart to understand.

    I've learned....

That simple walks with my father around the block on
summer nights when I was a child did wonders for me as an
    adult.

    I've learned....
That life is like a roll of toilet paper.

    The
closer it gets to the end, the faster it goes.

    I've learned....

    That money doesn't buy
    class.

    I've
    learned....

That it's those small daily happenings that
    make life so spectacular.

    I've
    learned...

That under everyone's hard shell is someone
who wants to be appreciated and loved.

    I've learned....

    That to ignore the facts
    does not change the facts.

    I've
    learned....

That when you plan to get even with
    someone,

you are only letting that person continue to hurt
    you.

    I've
    learned....

That love, not time, heals all
    wounds.

    I've learned....

That the easiest way for me to grow as a person is to surround myself with people smarter than I am.

    I've learned....

That everyone you meet deserves to be greeted with a smile.

    I've learned....

That no one is perfect until you fall in love with them.

    I've learned....

That life is tough, but I'm tougher.

    I've learned....

That opportunities are never lost; someone will take the ones you miss.

    I've learned....

That I wish I could have told my Mom that I love her one more time before she passed away.

    I've learned....

That one should keep his words both soft and
tender, because tomorrow he may have to eat them.

    I've learned....

That a smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks.

    I've learned....

That when your newly born grandchild holds your little finger in his little fist, you're hooked for life.

    I've learned....
That everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth occurs while you're climbing it.

    I've learned....
That the less time I have to work with, the more things I get done.

    HAPPY FRIENDSHIP
    WEEK TO YOU!

January 3,2017 and Happy New Year. Happy 2017. Happy to have made it this far. Just remembering the 1999 to 2000 flip.....doomsday on the run up to it and celebration on the true flip! Y2K was a non event. Thank goodness.

Now here we are in the early days of the new year. A year to come with a new President coming to office, a year with new hope, joy, and love to go around. Yet not without its angst for sure.

If one believes that a rouge planet is heading our way and will change the world for ever then enjoy the time we have, but then again we should always enjoy the time we have. So nothing new here. If one believes that Aliens are living in a secret city in Antarctica this could be a interesting year for you. Will it be true or be yet more foolishness ?

It seems with each passing year there are more and more experts on end times. They add science, folklore, hear say, mambo-jumbo, and make it believable. Amazing to me.

For me its very simple. The end will come when it comes, nothing I can do about it. All I can do is believe in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and his teachings. Being as good a person as I can be, Love my neighbor as myself, help everyone I encounter. Judge no one. Smile everyday, think hard everyday, pass in worldly goods and work to posses spiritual goods. Love, Hope, and Charity. Know the difference between right and wrong and ask God for forgiveness and humility each day of my life.

With that I will bid you all a great, happy, prosperous, spiritual, humble, and ever thankful New Year. Make it your best one yet!!!!

Tuesday January 17, 2017 and its a cloudy seasonably warm day today. High to be 62 and for January 17 that is a might fine with me. Speaking of fine that is each day should be for you and me. No there is no guarantee for a fine day but as they say you get out of the day what you put into it. So lately I have been busier then a 1 armed juggler. But that is the way it goes, I can complain about it or just buckle up and enjoy the ride. I'll enjoy the ride.

I'll also always take a moment in my day to thank my creator and his only Son. Without them life has little or maybe better said, no meaning at all. Scientist spend countless hours looking for scientific facts and create hypothesis to substantiate their findings yet some answers to questions are not in books. Some answers are only found in our hearts or the hearts of our loved ones, or in the hearts of perfect strangers. How amazing is that?

Someone you never met before maybe able to tell you things that just will amaze you. Why? Because they see you in a different form, they see you as not who you strive to be but who you really are in most cases. This is not true in all cases but date I say most cases. Simply amazing....

Scientist study the wind yet to can't see it, you don't know where it started and you surely don't know where it goes...but yet it can knock down trees and houses or it can provide a genital breeze on a hot summer day to comfort you. Amazing.....

Then there is someone that is near and dear to us that is with us and guides us and comforts us and loves us unconditionally. Who is there when we fall and is there when we awake in the morning. Who is always listening and not judging us. That someone is God and his Son. One in the same. All he ask is a minute of your time. He wants to help, he wants to save, he wants you to call on him. Anytime, anyplace, any situation.......Amazing....

You just need to do it, your will feel on top of the wor;d, he is waiting.......drop the iPhone, drop the Twitter, drop the Facebook, and any other thing you are doing and say, here I am Lord. With you I am everything and without you I am nothing. Thank you for today and everyday to do your will and work, I am here Lord.

Go ahead say it.....you want to. What a great day to start your relationship with our Lord and Savior!!!!!!!

Happy Tuesday and be well, be bright, and be ever thankful and helpful to your fellow man/woman.

Wednesday February 1, 2017 and its overcast and 56 degrees heading on up to 66 degrees today providing the sun cooperates and comes out. Either way its still a great day.

Speaking of great, how about the start to a new Month, February! The month of Valentine's Day, Presidents Birthday's. Those of my generation and previous to my generation remember when two of our Presidents Birthday's were celebrated in February. None other then George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. Pretty important fellows in our great history as a nations. One lead us through foreign invaders and one lead us through a Civil War.

I remember as a child in school we would focus our studies around these two men. We would have to do reports on them in February and in some classes / years we had to get up in front of the call and talk about why these two men where so important. Art class we use to trace and cutout large pieces of paper of their heads and glue them to the back of Red Colored paper and tape them onto our classroom windows so all that passed our school were reminded how great these two men were.

In between those Birthday was Valentine's day. We use to bring a Valentine in for each child in class and we would decorate brown paper lunch bags and hang them in front of the classroom. Then on Valentine's day we would place our Valentine's in each of the bags. Teachers would pass out candy and we would have a good old time. My only regret is I did not keep some of those Valentine's as keepsakes. Most were store bought but some were homemade by our friends. Pretty darn cool if you ask me. It was not till years later in high school where I actually learned the history of Saint Valentine and the risk he took in ancient Rome helping Married couples. Pretty special guy for sure.

So yes, it is a great day and part of the greater month of February. So make sure you remember your Valentine on that special day and make sure you take time this month to remember Washington and Lincoln and the great contributions they made to our great nation!

Happy Wednesday, Happy remembering February's gone by, and Happy to give praise to the one above that all things possible and giving us the opportunity to be better people each and every day. How cool is that?

Monday February 6, 2017 and its a sunny day heading on up to 68 degrees. Back space to today's date.....February 6 and today's high to be 68. Eureka, that is sweet! Not quite as sweet as N.E. Patriots fans are feeling today. What a come back. Its was two games in one. Game one dominated by Atlanta and game 2 dominated by N.E. and a O.T tossed in just to pick the winner. And yet another unbelievable catch in the game. The Super Bowl's are starting to corner the market on amazing catches during the games. WOW! It is always amazing to me as well that the Super Bowls have been coming down to the last plays of the games that pick the winner. Whatever the NFL is doing it working to perfection. Bravo. I was almost ready to turn to the puppy bowl after the first half. Skipped the half time show due to lack on interest but glad I came back for the second half.

As the Super Bowl memories fade into the distant pass we know MLB is not far off. America's pass time is at our doorsteps awaiting a new year. In other words time is passing on for sure.

So it leaves us with a question or two. One is with this passing time are we doing all we can for our fellow man? There never seems to be enough time for that, yet we spent 5+ hours watching a Super Bowl game. We will spend 3+ hours watching a MLB game. But how much time will we spend making a food donation bag for the donation center? How much time will we take to give a fiend or relative a helping hand up? How much time will we take to get on our knees today and ask the one above for help and guidance or to just say thanks? Time is such a precious commodity to waste.....oh my.

So on this Super Monday lend a hand, say a prayer on your knees, hug someone you haven't in a awhile and tell them you love them! Your Super Monday will be a fantastic Monday for sure. Yes indeed......its all about love.

Thursday April 6, 2017 and this morning was heavy downpours and periods of no rain. In fact it is sunny at the moment with some winds but forecast says hold onto your hats the wing gust will pick up throughout the rest of today.
What's that all mean? One word.....Spring! How spring it is too!

Spring is always the time to look within our selves and as in nature the world around us seem to have a rebirth. Beautiful flowers pop out and colors only God can have created. So, why not have a spring in your own life? Have that new birth of helpfulness, humility, and listening. Don't be that windy spring day spewing out everything you have to say about everything and everyone else.....just the opposite. Have your day be in the tranquility of thought, and keeping you focused on the goal of eternal life. Give the one upstairs the praise and thanksgiving they deserve.

This roller coaster ride of life we are on here and now can be as exciting and exhilarating as you want it to be. Or it can be the kiddie roller coaster ride we were on as kids. Totally up to you.

So being we are in the heart of spring its time to see which one your punched ticket is for?

I know you will make the right choice. Your friends and family are counting on it. But most of all the one above will let you blossom into the brightest and most awesome creation ever made. Here is a simple prayer to pray each day.....

Lord help me to be humble and helpful to everyone I meet this day and everyday. Amen.

Say that each day and watch what happens.....

P.S to tell you how fast time is flying by....I went up and re-read what I had written and had it dated March 6 not April 6......oh my! Time for me to stop and smell the flowers! Happy Blessed Thursday.

Tuesday April 18, 2017 and its a cloudy mid 60's day out the window. Still pretty with the leaves about 40% on the trees. The rain last night knocked the Pine Pollen down which is always a plus!

Flew on American Airlines last week and glad I did and not United. Sheez....how can a paying Customer already seated on the plane be removed in force and give up his seat. What country is this? Makes one wonder these days. Oh my. Common sense had crept back into United Managements heads and changed that terrible policy they had in effect. Any business I ever worked for and fortunately has only been a couple throughout my career, the Customer is first. Above the Employees, Managers, and Stock Holders. Although the last named group is right up their with the Customers.

I am sure at the end justice will be served to United and to the passenger that got removed and then added back onto the plane.

On another subject completely unrelated to the above subject. As a kid I grew up with my grandparents and mother watching Lawrence Welk. As kids we would have to be quiet in my Grandmothers house when he came on. Needless to say as kids, teenagers, and young adults we did not care for Lawrence Welk.....at all! But the crazy thing now and I am sure it is age related. I absolutely love The Lawrence Welk shows. I now honestly can say I got it. I understand why my Grandmother and mother like the shows.

I now watch them on the Public Television channel on Saturday evenings and on YouTube. The musicians are fantastic. The singers are not great but good. Why because they care, you can see it on their faces and in their voices. Even the dancing is fun to watch. Music, singing, and dancing like that is non existent today. Good wholesome entertaining dies with Lawrence Welk as far as mainstream TV that is.

It is amazing that during that hour long show not a bad word is uttered, not a inappropriate act or innuendo is preformed, just music, singing, and dancing. Now that is refreshing!

Where are our Lawrence Welk's of today? Have they all gone away? I have added one of my favorite musicals called 'Which way to San Jane?' .....tell the guy playing the panio is no loving playing this song!!!

Happy Tuesday and may your music always to pleasant and speak to your heart....

    Enjoy.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DwgYL63Q8_4

Tuesday May 2, 2017 and its a sunny, breezy, beautiful day outside. Just a great May day! Speaking of great I got to think of my time growing up in N.E. PA. My grade school went from K - 6 and my High School went from 7 - 12 and I never was bused once to school or home. Not many can make that claim today. Anyway I got to think of comparisons between then and now. 2017 when we should all be flying around like the Jetson's and not have the problem with society we are having.....here is my list in no particular order.

    Then:
Mom was my alarm clock to get ready for school

    Now:
Siri or other electronic voice will wake you up.

    Then:
Breakfast as toast with real butter and a cup of tea.

    Now:
No time to busy catching up on Text chat's, video chat's, news, sports, and weather on your ones personal device.

    Then:
Leave the house and walk to school, pick up friends, family members on the way yo school

    Now:
Go to a bus stop and hope you never get bullied.

    Then:
Typically 90% (estimated no known data) of the class had a real Dad and Mom and were still married.

    Now:
Maybe 20% (estimated no known data) of the class has only 1 parent who actually lives with them. Parent maybe of opposite sex or same sex or just a digit.

    Then:
Recess meant time to play hopscotch, race, tag, jump rope, talk or just hang around in the sun.

    Now:
Got ones electronic device out and catch up in the shade. Communicate as little as possible with anyone in person.

    Then:
Wait for the afternoon school bell to ring and rush out the school running as fast as possible to beat everyone and anyone you could. Play time was a wasting!

    Now:
Walk to the bus line. Stand in the bus line. Get on the bus and wait to be dropped off at the bus stop. Talk, yell, and act up on the bus or just stare into your electronic personal device for words of wisdom?

    Then:
Carried books home only when needed. We did not have book bags and our teachers taught us in the classroom and left time to finish our homework in the classroom.

    Now:
Teachers are so busy doing non teaching activities they don't have time to teach and have to assign homework which is carried home in expensive book bags.

    Then:
Supper was serviced and on the table when Dad got home from work. No TV or radio in the kitchen where we ate. This was time mom and dad got to ask us how our day went or we just sat there quietly.

    Now:
I can only shutter when happens at dinner time now. Is there still one for families?

....more to come but oh how far we came as a society.

Wednesday May 17, 2017 and it a sunny hot day outside the window. First real taste of summer in fact. Hi to be low 90's with high humidity levels. So we got that going for us. Days like today always reminds me of growing up in Northeastern PA.

Typical May day is jacket in the morning walking to school and placing it in the coat room and forgetting about it for the trip home. Gee-gads not again! Well Mom might of used a bit stronger tone then that but none the less, I was a kid.

But today for some odd reason reminds me of a close call I had as a 7 or 8 year old. Back in the day we have no electronic devices to use so we used the next best thing and that was our imaginations. My bestest friend at that time was one that lived catercorner to my backyard. It was out the backdoor and hope skip and a jump over our back fence and over his fence and I was in his backyard. On a typical day he would come out and we would play outside on our yards. But this day the weather was not good so we played inside. He had a big ole house that had a second floor apartment that they had not rented in years so that would act as his play room and storage area. We would let our imagination run wild in there.

We would make space ships and fly to the moon and beyond. We would hid behind the couch and chairs as Army guys waiting to ambush the enemy. We would play cowboys and Indians and occasionally watch in the Black and White TV some Speed Racer Cartoons, the Adams Family, and Mr. Magoo. But this day was to be different. I happened to come up the back stairs to the second floor apartment to see my friend. He was already in full stem ahead play mode. He had a feather in a sweatband and was a Indian complete with bow and arrow. We use to shoot the bow and arrows at a big cardboard box in the play room that his mom kept foam pillow inserts in. She use to make them as a hobby. It was great for arrows....real arrows no kid ones.

I was not aware of any of this at the time I entered the backdoor on the second floor. It lead directly into the small kitchen that was used for storage. There was a path that lead into the playroom. So I took as I did a hundred timed before. I wanted to scare my friend so I leaped from the doorway into the room to only have a arrow go whizzing by my mid section and into the box!

....that was close! He never seen or heard me and I got the scare of my young life at the time. How lucky we both were that the arrow missed. We learned a pretty good lesson that day.....never shoot arrows in the house!
At the time it was no big deal, we actually laughed about it but reflecting back it was pretty darn scary for sure.

I thank the one above for that arrow missing me that day and all the good times I had with my friends and family growing up.

We shared many other scary experiences growing up just being kids. How times have changed..........

Today I am sure the cops would of been involved but we never told anyone of the near miss but I can only speculate if I told my parents they would of told me don't ever go into anyone's home uninvited and unannounced. I had a obligation as a guest to be invited in and if not to poke my head in the door and say who I was before ever entering. Pretty good logic if you ask me!

Happy Wednesday and have a great day and take some time to remember back to your childhood experiences and reflect what they would be like if you had them today?

Also, above all thank the one above for this day and everyday you have the opportunity to help someone out...its keeps the soul healthy!

Friday May 19, 2017 and its a sunny hot day. Little cooler then yesterday but upper 80's and toasty. Almost the start to the weekend. Sweet!

Now for something different, I though about what Friday's were like growing up....so here goes.

Kindergarten. went 1/2 days, started in the AM class and after mid year went to PM class.....Friday was no different than Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday.

1st Grade. Walk to school on our own. Still had no clue what Friday meant.

    2nd Grade. Same as first.

3rd Grade. Now getting some concept of Friday meant. No school till Monday and Friday races at recess and on the way home from school.

4th Grade. Friday meant barrel out the school 90 MPH when the bell rang, run all the way home, except when Dominick the crossing guard stopped us at a busy intersection between school and our home. Change out of school clothes, hope on the bike or on my feet over to my friends house.

5th Grade. Chilled abit talking to class friends you would not see all weekend. No texting, no facebook, or other ways we communicate today.

6th Grade. Top dogs of our elementary school. School Certified crossing guards complete with bright orange straps and badge! Cool. Get out of call 10 minutes early to get to our stations and wait for the bell to ring.

7th Grade. Now in the High School, top dogs went to dog meat for everyone else at the High School. Our school was 7 - 12 grade. Bell rang and walk home slowly and with a purpose to avoid the older crowd......just survive the week.

8th Grade. Dump on the 7th graders!! Walk home with more friends that lived in different neighborhood that you did not even know exist in Grade school.

9th Grade. Kind of finding our way, half way through High School. Girls was becoming pretty cool, indeed! Get home and get ready for work.

10th Grade. When the bell rang it was up and out of the school, learning to drive was just around the corner and some of our older friends drove and could actually drive us home.....gee-gads! Oh yea get home and get read for work.

11th Grade. Hang out after school with friends and plan the weekend days and nights. Get home and get ready for work now Friday night and Saturdays. Catch a movie or two. Got drivers license but no car yet.

12th Grade. Top dogs yet again. School was cool! Had my own car now and seemed to have many more friends....coincidence, maybe....maybe not! Alway Disco was the rage, Silk shirts with some wild scenery on them of forest and clouds. Large collars. When I look at the pictures now I say no way man! I could not have ever wore a shirt like that, especially not to school>.....oh my!

Then on to college and career and except for the friends names and a couple of other things the years just blended together.......

That was my Friday memory lane trip, hope you take the time to go back down yours and it puts a smile on your face.

Wishing all a wonderful weekend and don't forget to give special thanks to the one above, who knew you through all the years and clothing styles and still LOVES you!
