Now that your unpacked and got to test drive the area for a bit, encountered some locals and yokels, and hopefully some actual people that moved to the area from your home town or state its time to list the likes you have of your new or semi-new, or heck if the area is your native home than by all means and ways list what you like! Y'all got it? Well here goes!

Weather! You like or not!
Year round flowers!
Long springs!
Longer Autumns!
Shorts year round! For the hearty ones that is.
Variety of sub divisions to chose from!
Snow is a neat event versus a ho-hum not again event!
No rust on older cars! Amazing if your from the Northeast!
Can fish year round without cutting holes in the water (ice) for us North Easterners!
Pretty country side is usually only 5 minutes or less from where you live anywhere in the triangle.
People R People. No matter what they say!
Day trip to Mountains!
Day trip to Ocean!
And in a lot cases no trip at all to the many lakes, ponds, river, and streams that spot the area!
Good food can be had by all and more is always welcome irregardless if they are called viddles or pickins!
Out away from the city lights the sky at night explodes with the many stars that fill the emptiness of space with the occasional flying star to catch a dream or two on!
Groceries can be cheaper but we all have to eat!

Sure it takes time to get use to this place, remember the place you came from was called home and that is never a easy place to replace! But give it time, explore the area and get involved and this place too will be your new home not only in name but in feeling!

May the triangle, RDU, RTP, Crossroads, the Quay, Wake Forest, Knightdale, Apex, Raleigh, Durham, Zebulon, Oxford, Mossisville, Franklinton, Youngsville, Chapel Hill, Henderson, ...seems like I am forgetting somewhere....????......Oh yea! and Cary, be with you!

Oh Tarheels! I forgot to number the above as I did say I would count thy ways!

Wake Forest, NC. located in Wake County NC. Some call it Wake's Forest of the Triangle....Ok maybe that's just me. But if you come from the North East, Wake Forest seems to fit. It has some rolling hills and many farming areas.

It has a small town feel but close to Raleigh, you could be down town Raleigh, depending on time of day in about 15 to 30 minutes. You can be at the Virginia border in less than an hour.

It has old Historical homes and some new subdivisions. It certainly worth a look see if your looking and seeing the area. It has transplants from New Jersey, New York, and many other NE State and Mid West and California and....well you get the idea people from all over this great country now calls Wake Forest home!

C'mon down, over, left, or right and check it out you may just like what you see.

Monday December 18, 2017 and its a sunny 50 something day. Nice for this time of the year. Christmas is rapidly approaching. As a kid these days were forever. The anticipation of the big day. It hijacked the daily conversations in the school yard at recess. Who was getting what and how many toys. WOW! Race home to watch the Flintstones and Magilla Gorilla for the cool advertisements of all the new toys......oh man! Awesome. Not a video have or console to be found....weren't invented then. Amazing how times have changed.

Speaking of change, my last post I talked about the 10 Commandments and everything around us changed over the years yet they have not. They held true when they were written and are independent of culture and society changes. So now would be a good time to dive into them one by one....

#1 I am the Lord thy God. There is no other. none, notta, zero. Its that simple. But people have a hard time grasping that one and only one concept. Having one and only one means there is no tie breakers. There is no flipping of a coin to see who is more powerful. All that is saved for man, humans, who have to think and act in terms of good, better, best. With God it is A #1! No need to look or analyze any deeper. Simple is good and good is God. Always and forever.

So when you need help or answer you only have one being to turn to and that is the one above. He never sleeps, eats, naps, or anything except think and love each one of us. That is more then a full time job!

So while our minds, bodies, and thoughts wonder from our God, his does not. While we think of today, he thinks of eternity. While we want him to fix all our problems today he truly fixes our problems over our lifetimes. In other words as God he does things at his time and place not ours. Our deepest valley's in life is when we decide the time and place to do things that are not Gods. We as they say fall from grace and goodness. So we have to pick ourselves back up and then get on our kneels quietly and without fanfare or reservation and ask God for help. Then keep our months shut and out hearts open and that is where you will find the one and only God. There is no one more loving, caring, and ever present for us but the God above.

So as we approach his only Son's birthday, ask and seek his help and he will find and comfort you. Be thankful for today and yesterday and always praise the one above.
We are all his children and he gave us the greatest gift of all, eternal life with him if you open your heart to him.

Happy Monday and Peace I say to you....

Tuesday December 19, 2017 and its a party sunny heading up to 60's today. Anything over 60 does not matter for this day of the year! One day closer to Christmas, sweet! and I will utter Oh My Gosh! OMG with a sh on the end. As that will segment me into Commandment #2. Do not use the Lord Gods name in vain.

Simple but so hard to do in today's society. Its so much easier to do. From the OMG example above to G.D. (Gosh Damit)....it just find its way into our daily vernacular. And it shouldn't, we have a very simple commandment not to. I personally fail at this one. So I have to work harder not to.

Ever wonder why God made this a commandment? Because we are not to question who he is, what he is, or ever think that we know better. Out of respect for our creator we should not invoke his name in vain. So the next time you get that urge to do just put a 'sh' at the end. Gosh it a whole lot better then not using the 'sh'. Try it......go head.....I'll wait.

See wasn't that better? Abso-gosh-alutely it was. Please you just pleased the one above and there it no substitute for that my friends.

Happy Tuesday and Happy 1 day closer to Christ-mas!

Thursday January 4th, 2018 and its a sunny 20 something outside with snow covering the ground. Made for a slip slide ride in this morning but the sun has taken over and letting that pavement come back into view.

My first post of the new year so wishing all a Happy Healthy, Fun-Filled new year! Now back to where I left off last year. Commandment #3. Making Sunday a day of rest and praise to the one above.

Og goodness I fail at this one too. I certain praise on Sunday and everyday but always find something to do. The day of rest is usually anything but that. So I have to do a better job of resting on Sunday's this year.

I suppose I have to look no further back then creation when God created the entire universe in 6 days and rested on the 7th. What a great model to follow. I certainly can see how creating the entire universe in 6 days can wear you out. So I can just imagine God waking up on that seventh day and all ready to create something else he sat back for a moment and took in what he had created.......then said I am done! WOW!

Kind of like when your at the beach sitting back in your lounge chair and watch the sub fall off the fave of the earth over the horizon. WOW!

So on this new year keep the seventh day a day of rest and family and reflection and praise. God is listening......

Happy Thursday and take time to just look at the awe and beauty around you each and everyday. Your body and soul will be sure glad you did!

Tuesday January 23, 2018 and its a party sunny warm January's day. To think last wee we were awaiting the pending snow storm and the cold and icy temperatures that followed it. All gone now. Still a few snow piles left outside the window and they are fading fast.

Speaking of fading fast....that would be January. My last post was January 4th and here it is the 23 and its my bext post. January 4th seems like yesterday. Amazing how fast time travels. Light they say travels at 186,000 miles per second. I have come to learn that aging is a close second to that speed. Any who, I want to continue my writing on the 10 Commandments. I am up to"
    4. Honor your Mother and your Father. (Honor/Respect)

Commandments 1 through 3 set the coarse for ones life and Commandment 4 gives life meaning and need. Honor you Mother and your Father. As a verb honor means, 'regard with great respect'. What is inferred there is 'always', not when we feel like it, not when its good for us to do, not when we are asked to, but always.

Again simple sentence in simple terms. Nothing complicated, nothing hidden, nothing missed. Just HONOR your Mother and your Father.

Our parents and us that are parents and grandparents understand this Commandment. The instant we see our child or grandchild for the first time we are in love. Our hearts are filled with the awesome power of life. Our Souls are fulfilled like never before. There is a basic element of life we are here for and that is to recreate the gift that was given to us when we were born. From the one above through out Father and Mother we came to being.

We are not some type of illusion or magic trip. We are developed from cells through a roughly 9 month process into a human being. God in his infinite wisdom made the process 9 months. He made trials and tribulations for Mom and Dad. He wanted to show nothing as important as a life should be instant so it could be thrown away as easy as it came. No way. We are humans have to develop and grow and learn. God gave us two parents for this life Journey from conception to death.

The constant in that complete process is Mother and Father. We all had at least one in order to create the miracle we are. So on this day in January and if your Mother and Father are still with you pay respect and homage to them. Thank you for everything in your life. If they are not then say a prayer to the one above who hears you better then anyone else on this planet. Thank the one above for your parents and pray that they are enjoying ever lasting life in heaven......If you can do that you are living Commandment 4.

Happy Tuesday, Happy every after, Happy be for you.

Friday February 23, 2018 and its a over cast warm late February day. Daffodils are out, some trees are in full blossom....spring is rapidly approaching which is such a wonderful time of the year.

Converse to that thought is Commandment #5.
    Thou shall not kill.

Four words cannot be any clearer or simpler yet it continues since it was first written on the stone tablet.
God was about creation and wonder and gave his only Son to promote peace and love to all we encounter. Not some, not most, not few but ALL. What a tall order...

I wonder if it would of helped if it was posted in the entrance of the school in Florida in big letters, "Thou shall not kill"......ever. Everyone is looking for answers and fixes. Maybe start with promoting, reciting, yelling, preaching, the 10 commandments God gave mankind. Certainly they will be used as a check sheet when its time to meet the one above. So why not start with them today and everyday?

But wait, its the opposite, we can't use them, we have taken them down from public places, we banished them to the memories of the old. Our new generations know right from wrong, they know good from evil, they know love from hate, they know nothing, unless we teach them.

If you teach any commandment teach not to kill. If you teach not to kill you teach respect, if you teach respect you teach to love, if you teach to love you teach not to bully and use the Lords name in vain. You actually teach all other 9 commandments if you teach not to kill.

Life and death is granted by the one above, the God in heaven. He knows your heart, your thoughts, and your strengths and weaknesses. Turn to him and ask for help, he is there to listen and will point you in a way towards him not away from him. He will set you on a path of love and not destruction. He truly wants to hear from you........now not later.

To all the souls that were lost in that school and every other school, work place, home, or where every death came to call, may you eternally rest in peace.

If you do anything today read commandment 5 and remind everyone you see to not kill but to help a life......

Monday May 28, 2018 and its light rain and 73 out side
the window. The added bonus for today is its Memorial Day.
The day we remember our fallen brothers and sisters that had responded to the bell of liberty to defend and protect our way of life. So if you are supportive of conflicts or are against all forms of conflict it is the day to honor and respect those that fought and died for all of us.

For the kids, the 18, 19, and 20 year old's that went off to far and distant lands to fight aggression and died before ever reaching the legal age to drink in this great country of ours. We say thank you for your great and ultimate scarifies. For the 20 to 30 to 40 year old's that went off to protect your families and their way of life. Thank you for the ultimate sacrifice one can ever do for their country. For the 50 year old's that went to protect our way of life and their grandchildren we say thank you.

I pray for all your souls young and old and thank you for ALL you have done for this great country of ours. Defend and Protect is all your ever wanted to do and we thank you for that. May your souls find eternal peace and hugs from the one above as a job well done.

So when your flipping those burgers, it is national burger day, and drinking down that cold one. and chomping on that water melon remember the brave Men and Women that died for us and their families. I offer a prayer and moment of silence in their honor.

    Happy Memorial Day. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bfe4TxvUOiw Amen.

Monday June 11, 2018 and its a sunny 84 degrees
with some thunderstorms forecast for late afternoon and evening. Cold front coming through. Speaking of coming through I must circle back to my submission on the commandments. Specifically #6. “Thou shalt not commit adultery.”

Let that one sink in....Its okay go back and read it again. The temptations of this earthly world makes this one front and center. One only has to look to Hollywood or Main Street USA to see this one is broken daily. Adultery is the work of the one that lives in the underworld. The Prince of darkness and lifelessness. It is the opposite of commitment, courage, and love. It makes the words, 'I do' switch to 'I don't'. How sad is that?

This one as almost all the other commandants are best reviewed in front of a mirror. Looking at your own eyes and heart in front of the mirror. So take the challenge. Look in the mirror and ask yourself in honesty and openness in front of your creator and savior where you stand on this Commandment #6...........

P.S. this post spilled over to Tuesday June 12. As its never to late to change and its never to late to ask for forgiveness and courage to face the temptations of the evil one as the soul you save may very well be your own.

Happy Tuesday and its harder to say it better then this.....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ibftfzym5JI

Monday July 9, 2018 and its a sunny and beautiful 81 degrees outside the window. Just came back from spending some time in upstate New York and boy was it HOT up there. 98 degrees HOT! Could not believe I was in upstate New York.

Each time I get back up there I am reminded of how much North Carolina is not New York. The places I visited were even more depressed then the last time I was up there. Factories were empty with Sale or Lease signs on them. Houses were run down. It is so sad. It shows so clearly how jobs of the life line of a community. the only building I seen and it was not much were professional buildings, like for Dentist offices. I seen no new homes being built, no new roads being made. I seen farms that have gone abandoned and the once mighty Red Barns and huge silo's falling down or about to fall down. Fields that were once filled with dairy cows and acres upon acres of corn just over grown with weeds and trees. As I drive by them I can't help recall the time it took to clear those fields in the 1700 and early 18th century. The time it took to pick the field stone and stack them on all the walls that surrounded the fields.

So upstate NY does not even have farming going for them anymore. So no farming and little to no manufacturing and the place is literally falling into decay. With the lack of jobs there is no lack of crime. Drugs has a market place there and how sad is that? Instead of bring corn, wheat, barley, green beans, corn to the market place only drugs seem to have a active trade going on.

So very sad, I wish it was only New York but the small town I grew up in in Pennsylvania is even worse off then New York State only because the jobs left about 20 years earlier.

Let's hope and pray jobs come back to these states so people are not forced to leave them and look for states like North Carolina.

Happy Monday and Happy to be back. Enjoy the great music...... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iuLBhxZUkmU

Monday August 27, 2018 and it a glorious start to the day. Heading up to lower 90's today coming off a spectacular weekend weather wise that is. Low 80's and low humidity....oh man that is beautiful!

Anyway have not posted in awhile and life has been going at 120 MPH and I keep missing the Rest Stops....but today decided to ease on off the highway of life and take a rest and add a post.

The post heads back to the past. Back to the first day of school. In the north it was always the day after Labor Day. The day we knew summer was but a memory. It was the day we got to wear those new clothes Mom made us get over the summer. It was the day we had to trudge up the hills to school. It was the day we got to see ole friends we had not seen all summer long. It was the day to meet the new teacher we heard so much about from our older siblings. How hard she was. It was the day we stared out the school window wondering why summer was over, who said we needed to go to school? Dang those people that said we needed to be in school.

All that window daydreaming came to an end as soon as the bell rang. It was time to stand and say the Pledge of Allegiance because it was the right thing to do. It was time the teach said we could sit and say a silent prayer for a new school year and the hope and success it would bring us. It was time to pass out the school books we would be using and the teacher telling us to bring brown paper bags to school so we could cover them. It was time to sharpen our pencils, pens were not allowed. Imagine that if you may.

If was time for recess to fly out into the school yard with the constant chatter of teachers in the background saying' "Don't Run, Walk!'. Walk, walk, walk over and over again. But meaningless to us. It was time to get our heels out of our pockets and play Hop-scotch. it was time to race our old friend we have not seen all summer and see who would be fastest of the class this year. It was time to go back into the school to finish out the day. On the last bell it was time to fly home down the hills, changed clothes, grab a bite to eat, on our bikes, and head over to the front of my cousins house which was the corner we hanged out on. Here we spent the time talking about our day. Who was in our class as if we did not know. Once in a great while a new kid would come or we would lose one but I would say that during my First Great to 12th Grade over 90% of the kids I was in First Grade with were in my graduating class.

Oh what a first day we all had................

Happy Monday and I hope you take the time today to reflect back on your first day of school after the summer recess. You will love the memories, I know you well. In the words of the late great Jackie Gleason, "How sweet it is!" ....or as I can say today ....'was!'

Monday October 29, 2018 and its a sun drenched fall day. Slightly breezy and its 61 degrees heading all the way up to 63 degrees. Nice!

These were the days we could not wait for recess to come and could not wait for the end of the school day bell to ring. We knew daylight was getting shorter each day so we have to make it last. We got out elementary school at 3:30PM when I went to school. So we had to race home, fortunately for us it was all down hill as our school sat directly on top of a hill.

Quick change, rifle something down to eat and hop on a bike and head out to see where the football game was to be played. It typically took place on a city street up in front of my cousins house. It was a skinny street. One way. One side for parked cars and one for moving cars. We played in the moving car side.......Imagine that!

We had a blast. It went on until dark. Those great catches and misses. The great passes and the 2 hand touch and out of bounds plays. Oh man! Then as the sun dipped below the homes it was time to go home.

See Dad home from work now and my other siblings. Have supper and ask if we got our homework done. It was always yes of coarse. <Internal Grin>

It was watch the Red Shelton show and Laugh-In and off to bed to dream about the football game just past that late afternoon.......that my friends was life in the late 1960's!

Little music from that time to leave you with: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DD94tZgPuvc
    Enjoy!

Monday November 5, 2018 and it s a rainy Monday morning. Temperature right around 57. Pushing the clocks back this past weekend makes it dark around 5:15 PM now.

I remember the rainy days walking to school. No umbrella's, they were for girls. Rarely wore rain coats even thou Mom wanted us to. We told her it will be stopping soon. <We had no clue when it was going to stop>. Breakfast consisted of butter toast and hot tea. Listened to AM radio and Dad saying how can we listen to that junk! He was a Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra guy. Ray Coniff singers, that was her era.

Once breakfast was over it was out the door. Sometimes did stop and empty the Milk box on the side porch and bring in the milk and cream to Mom along with the change the milkman left. But no luck Mom giving me any this day. Drat!

Out of the house in the rain up one block, up another and arrive at my cousins house. Knock on the back door and he is not ready yet. He had brothers and sisters and the family always was running late. Once he got his buttered toast cut in diagonals it was out the door. Up a block take a left up a block to a busy road. Wait for the crossing guard to give us the okay to cross and them up at least 6 flights of stairs up this big hill. Then across another street and up the really steep hill to our little school on top of the hill.

Across the street by one of the older kids being a Crossing Guard. We had them growing up and I was one of them in the 6th grade. Then into the Playground for a few minutes before the bell rang to start our school day. We did this day in and day out. While we waited for the school bell we were able to plot and plan what we would do at recess. Who we would race. It was a big deal to be the fastest in the class. Competition was keen. When it snowed and they plowed our asphalt school playground, king of the hill was the big deal. Got my keister knock down a many a hills over the winters but still have a blast falling down and getting up again. Could not show fear or it was not going to be a good day.

Now back to the rainy day. We waited outside in the rain for the first bell. Our school had to cover for us. Snowflakes we were not. Was not in our vocabulary back then. We were tough and our friends and family made sure we took care of ourselves or they would step in if someone over reached on us. Just the way it was.

Those were the days as they say. Happy Monday and Happy new week. Do you remember your school days?

Thursday November 8, 2018 and its a sunny morning. Temperature is still a nice 57 degrees outside the window heading on up to 60 degrees and then a few showers to usher in some cooler weather. Nice.

I remember the days when we got our weather on the TV all 4 channels if you count PBS. We also got it on the AM Radio. In the morning when we wondered downstairs after Mom got us up for school the radio was playing. Dad would usually already be at the table as he was the first one of of the house each day and he had the talk radio channel on. As soon as my older sibling came down she switched it to AM Radio the mighty 590! On came the hits of the day. Dad seemed to always speed up his breakfast when that happened and headed out of the house. Always remembering to ask before he left if our homework was done. Needless to say it was almost always done! Dad getting a call from the school was never a good ending at least for us kids. So fortunately for your truly that never happened until High school.. And that is a whole other post for the future.

Mom would be busy getting breakfast made and she would try to listen to the music on the radio but she would bring up singers from her day which seemed ancient at the time but I am sure she felt our music was just awful. But that was our daily morning ritual during the school year.

Once breakfast was over Mom would tell us to have a good day, learn lots, and come home safely. Life sure was simple back then. We walked to school everyday picking up friends and family along the way. never gave a second thought to anything bad that could of happened. Time was just different and I thank the one above each and everyday for letting me grow up on that era and have two great parents and siblings and surrounded with family. Teachers that truly cared for us and taught us. Taught us rights from wrongs, humility, friendship, caring, and proper respect for each other.

Somewhere along the years this has vanished as the AM radio tunes did. But we have the responsibility to teach our children and grandchildren how life was when we grew up. And no matter how different we are from one another there is always room to love that person and help them. In the beginning we all come here the same way and return when its over. What we do in that span will say everything about who we were and where we go when this journey is over.

Happy Thursday and may your day be filled with peace, happiness, and love for your neighbor.

Wednesday November 14, 2018 and its a cloudy misty day outside the window. 43 degrees heading all the way up to 45 degrees before winding down to 38 degrees over night. Winter is rapidly approaching my friends.

As a kid the encroachment of winter meant a few things. One Christmas break from school. Two Christmas day! Three snow was usually flying around so it was sledding time! It was the time to gaze out the classroom window and wonder which clouds floating by held the snow. It meant listening intently at the supper table to hear if Mom or Dad would mention snow in the forecast. It meant heading up to the attic to retrieve the Christmas decorations that would adorn our house right after Thanksgiving until the Three Kings in January and also bring down the sleighs! Yippee!

But on this cool November day way back when in that class room in our little grade school on the hill it was a loud yell that snapped be back to reality to answer the question my teacher called on me to answer......as I had no clue what it was but all I could do is look up and say, sorry I did not hear the question. To which I got the riot act read to me about paying attention in class and in life.

But oh for that brief moment before that I was merrily sledding down the big hill in our neighborhood park with not a care in the world.......

Monday December 3, 2018 and its a sunny 61 degrees outside heading on up to 65. Step back 49 or so letters and number and it is December 3. Sweet! No December 3rds that I remember growing up back in the Northeast. If we got to 50 it was sweet!

As a kid these was one of those long months. December and June were forever. For 3 weeks in December the playground scuttle butt was about who was getting what for Christmas. Our class room daydreams were not filled with sugar plums they were filled with GI Joe stuff. They were filled with Batman and Robin stuff. They were filled with cap guns and rolls upon rolls of caps to put in them. They were filled with sleds and ice skates. They were filled right up to the point the teacher called on us. At that moment the dreams were gone all gone, like a flash from the cap gun. They were gone for another time.

But the school windows were decorate in large Sana's and Snowmen and Silver Bells. Made by the 5th and 6th graders. Music class was fully committed to Christmas Carols. I can still hear the musical notes reverberating off the classroom walls from that old Piano the music teacher used. We had to lean Silver Bells and Rudolf and Jingle Bells to name just a few. Our class studies were winding down in anticipation for the new year. There was the school Christmas party yet to go before the Christmas break. There was getting home to a home filled with the smell of fresh baked Christmas cookies. sweet!

These are the memories of Christmas past.

Happy Monday and I hope that your Christmas memories are as enjoyable as mine. As the one above that came down on Christmas Day 2018 years ago said, Peace be with you.......ever more.

Tuesday January 22. 2019 and its a cool 34 sunny degrees outside. having grown up in the Us Northeast it is still strange to have so much sunny and no to little snow and ice here in the south. Not complaining just saying its still strange. Especially when I hear family still back up north getting over 2 feet this part weekend. It reminded me of a blizzard we had in upstate NY back in 1986 or 1987.

There were weather forecast all week of an approaching Noreaster coming up the east cost and would combine with a snow storm out of the west. One of those perfect storm scenarios.....if your a kid. Anyway the storm started late afternoon and as always it would start with fine snow flakes that looks like they won't accumulate past a hill of beans. But as the hours ticked by the snow started to get heavier and heavier. Winds started to really pick up too. Blowing out of the Northeast for awhile.

As the snow piled up I can remember us looking out each window of our house to see where the snow was the deepest. It snowed all night and the next morning it was still showing and mainly blowing. I lived on the side of a hill. The front of the house faced due west. As you faced our house the driveway on the driver side was level with the neighbors. On the passenger side my yard sloped up hill. Going only a few feet up that hill and you were already higher then our van. Well as I said earlier the snow was blowing out of the Northeast and the snow piled up along that hill on our driveway to the point our van was no longer visible. The snow piled up right over the van and completely covered it. There was over 6 feet of snow in the passenger side of out van. No snow blower either. Yikes.

We we all get bundled up and headed out to recover our van and make some sense out of our now snow covered driveway. Neighbors were slowly coming out of their hoses to access the roads and their own driveways. Luckily an elderly couple that lived across the street got a person up with a heavy duty snowblower and they were able to blow the snow from all our driveways. Let me tell finding places to throw the snow was no easy task. But we had a blast! We were all frozen like Popsicle's in the north pole but loving it. There was literally to much snow to build snowmen and to mach to run in but we still managed to had a blast throwing it around and jumping in it..............and then the snowplow came!!

You guessed it by now.....it totally filled in our newly opened driveway with mountains of snow. Anyone that lived where there is a lot of snow understand the feeling of clearing your driveway and have the plow come....

Of the good ole days and the flash back to reality and 34 sunny degrees outside. Yea I can take that just fine.

Happy Tuesday and if you see your neighbor needing a hand.....given your hands, legs, feet and arms. Its all in the plan my folks, its all in the plan.

Tuesday October 15, 2019 and the sun is bright and its a wonderful low 70's temperature day. Sweet fall day! Days I remember all to well growing up. Back up in the northeast it would be super nice at Mid 70's for October 15th. We would sit in school and gaze outside the window thinking of all the things we were missing out on. Bike rides, hanging out, and tossing the football around just to name a few.

It was also time for getting ready for Halloween. Sweet! It also was time where we use to collect up chestnuts from all over the ground into paper bags. Race home and get a hammer and a nail from Dad's workbench. Lay the chestnuts out on the back patio and start hammer the nails through them. One by one, pounding away until everyone was either smashed to bits or had a nice round hole in them.

We then got a piece of string and started to add the chestnuts to the string to make a necklace or belt. Whichever one preferred. We spent hours as kids doing this in the fall. When we were done we usually begged a nickel or dime off Mom....Dad never had any change <grin> and head to the corner store.

As in the Fall and the only time of the year one of our corner stores made fresh lollipops. Cinnamon or blue raspberry were the best. They were the biggest and best lollipops a nickel could buy! Once we obtained our sugar blast it was on our bikes and head for where ever.....

The best part of being a kid is time meant nothing and imaginations ruled what we did each day. How sweet it was...

Happy Tuesday and hope this quick trip through memory lane helped you remember those nice Fall days you had.

Thursday October 24, 2019 and its a sun filled cool day. Picture perfect if heading to the NC State Fair. Fair's are great as kids. As adults they are ho-hum at best and really crowded and expensive. So about once every 5 years is the planned visit to the Fair. Last year was the year.

But as a kid one would like them everyday. I remember when they had traveling ones that would come through the city I grew up in in Pennsylvania. They would set up in a tract of land that ran between two railroad lines. Where I grew up coal was king and railroads where what brought the King's ransom away to its destinations. But back to Fair's. I remember one Fair that came one year and we were old enough to go ourselves. WOW! That was awesome. The had fun houses and games and the major attraction was motorcycles riding in the sphere of death! Never seen that before and it captured our attention like nothing else at the Fair.

We got our ticket and went inside this tent with a big steel sphere in it and 3 motorcycles. After some small talk by the announcer the 3 cyclist came out and took a bow and went into the steel trap. Closed the door and started their engines. Louder and louder the engines roared until we could not hear the announcer and off one went. Around and around the sphere and then another and finally the last one. They went round and round nearly striking each other as they crossed paths. This show was simply awesome! Again and again they would go round and round and up and down until one bike got to close to the other and wham - Bam they hit, All 3 bike crashed down to the spheres floor, Ouch. The engines were shut down and slowly each rider got up and were okay. The announcer gave a cheer and the crow went crazy with excitement on what we just saw.

That was a Fair I will never forget. Pretty darn cool for a bunch of 10 year old's.

Happy Thursday and enjoy your day no matter the weather or what is going on around you, as you always have your memories to brighten your days!
