Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

The Masters: Still A Case Tradition, But Will Be Earlier Sunday

Posted 04-13-2019 at 03:38 PM by case44

Mother Nature likes to play with people's emotions, doesn't she? Well, that's the scenario which we very well have for Sunday's round of The Masters, taking place at the greatness of Augusta National.

This writer really loves watching The Masters every year. I pick this over any other golf tournament on television, and they've got so much tradition. From the grand music theme by Dave Loggins to the lush green landscapes of Augusta, this is the next thing to heaven for Case. And I don't even play golf. Certainly not very well. Nevertheless, I'll be watching to see what storylines develop this year. By golly, even Tiger Woods is back in the thick of things.

Here's what I brought up earlier: CBS-TV is going to be starting Sunday's broadcasts way earlier than what they normally would be doing. Threats of severe weather will be taunting the area around the afternoon, meteorologists say, and so, CBS had to draw a line in the sand (trap). The Sunday telecast will begin at 9 a.m. EDT, so that means that the famed Green Jacket ceremony will be at....

Hey, not so fast, Lee Corso. It ain't over 'til it's over, Yogi. And if some of the previous Masters contests have been any indication, then we could have overtime yet again. Too much drama has a tendency to prevail year in and year out, but it wouldn't be The Masters without it. I just need to be in front of the TV about eight hours earlier than in a normal year.

Still worth every minute.

    Tiger Woods is back, everyone!

Just when we all thought he could never make a comeback, by golly, yesterday provided a great storyline.
