Welcome To Case's Column
Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.
Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!
Regards,

I-69 Update: Houston's Outskirts Eventually Will See More Miles
Posted 07-25-2020 at 06:59 PM by case44
By the time this Texas gizzard hits the road again, it will be to one of two places. I've got Houston at the top of the list, but if things aren't right or aren't according to plan, then Oklahoma City will be my Plan B.
Since your writer won't be able to see his Astros live in person, he'll still have other things to do in Houston. First and foremost, two very important and prospective Interstate 69 locations are seeing new road work which has been long-awaited. Up north of Splendora and south of Cleveland, work on the new mainlanes is finally underway at that spot along U.S. Highway 59. I'm itching to see what that will be like the moment I check it out (provided, of course, I get to go). The other location is southwest of the city, in several places with a few projects. New mainlanes and feeder roads are currently under construction in Rosenberg (which I've checked out on my last visit), but other workings between there and El Campo have surfaced or soon will be surfacing. In the latter, half of the bypass project is already at corridor standards, and that's the segment west of State Highway 71, so the work that has to be done is the eastern segment.
What I am awaiting now is the eventual signing of I-69 in the aforementioned locations, plus the segments between Corpus Christi and Kingsville, on Laredo's east side, and just north of Raymondville. More projects are still coming as funding will be available.
If I decide to head for Houston in early August (practically next week ), then I will fill you in on the very latest should I see any developments worth putting in.

Houston gets the nod. I'll hit OKC sometime later on.
