Welcome To Case's Column
Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken.
Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Blast From The Past: Inventors / Remember Ron Popeil?

Whether it was late at night or on a weekday morning when commercials would sometimes be bigger than the actual program itself, television has seen its share of inventors and the gadgets they make.
Well, you remember a chap by the name of Ron Popeil, don't you? Sure, you do. He's the guy who became TV's favorite pitchman. We just lost him last year, but for a long time, he had the knack for making numerous inventions to make all of our lives much easier. Ron Popeil, he of the famed Ronco back in the day, brought us the Chop-O-Matic, the Veg-O-Matic, the Pocket Fisherman, the Giant Dehydrator, and the Showtime Rotisserie & BBQ ("Set it and forget it"). You and I watched all of those commercials and infomercials, marveling at each invention on how it basically revolutionizes our way of life.
We still miss Ron to this day, and some of you readers may have a few of his products. So, while you're slicing and dicing and trying hard not to cry, there's much to appreciate about Ron Popeil and his clever gadgetry. Memories do live on.
