Welcome To Case's Column
Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.
Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!
Regards,

A Few West Texas Musings From Your Rambling Writer
Posted 04-09-2022 at 11:10 AM by case44
While some folks are giving up YouTube (or, in some cases, getting kicked off --- and I'll explain that later), there are other people who are taking the plunge on the service to help pump up a community. And what's really amazing is that one Texas city is starting to get a lot more promotion from unexpected sources.
In the last few weeks or so, a few new YouTube users are making themselves more known, mostly in information related to real estate. Folks, I have to tell you, the city of Lubbock is getting quite a bit more attention now than it ever had on YouTube. Nevertheless, these new users are drawing attention to the Lubbock community, with neighborhoods, the real estate market, development, advice, and even some of the area's suburbs. I've seen Living in Lubbock and Lubbock Living and they are establishing a good following on YT. The responses from various folks suggest a ray of interest aimed at the area. Visit Lubbock has also been very active in keeping up with city and area trends.
Also, San Angelo is still the only city in Texas without an ITS (Intelligent Transportation System) program in place, with no message signs or traffic cameras, and no means of measuring travel times via automobile movement. Yeah, I know, and you don't have to tell me, but given recent news events regarding two new corridors for the area, such things will eventually be needed here. In addition, Angelo had never even had an interstate highway. Now, it's going to get two.
And did anyone notice that QuikTrip now has a location in Abilene? They do now. I spotted it on Google Street View, but it is definitely in place at Interstate 20 and Old Anson Road.
There you go for now. If I catch anything else along the way, well, you know where I'll put it....

Now, it should be noted, San Angelo does have a freeway system. It basically has one fish-hooking road with two highway designations in the central and southwest (U.S. Highway 67 and State Loop 306). There is also a section of Loop 306 on Angelo's east side that contains some freeway elements. That segment is expected to become part of the new trade corridor to go through the city.
