Welcome To Case's Column
Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken.
Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Just Some TV Nostalgia: This Is CBS

Sure, you enjoy great technology with electronics these days, don't you? So, why not just reminisce on how television used to be?
We will. Right here.
You remember how our oldest broadcast networks used to operate back in the Golden Age. You also remember what it was like even afterward. So, when a program would take a station break on the networks, you'd usually see an identification. And no network fleshed them out more than the CBS Television Network. Those IDs used to scare this writer a whole bunch as a younger lad. Now, you can catch them on YouTube and the surprise element is not there because you know what's coming after you've seen it forty-seven times. Ever-present were those dang CBS IDs. "This is CBS". Different announcers, so therefore, different scare levels.
Below, I've selected a few videos to show you just a taste of what you used to see on TV. These don't even come close to scratching the surface, but they will serve a purpose right here. This was your station break.

ABC's Ernie Anderson will always be my favorite promo announcer/voiceover.
In those promos for a prime time lineup, he would have a fun vibe for a sitcom and immediately shift to an intense one for a drama.Posted 05-04-2022 at 05:59 PM by MoNative34
