Until recently I never spent more than $6.99 for a six pack of beer. As a result I’ve spent a lot of long weekends consuming Miller Lite and Pabst Blue Ribbon. Thanks to some of the great people on the Triangle City-Data forum (Props to Mike Jaquish and NewUser) I have discovered the joys of local beer. Being a resident of Raleigh I was thrilled to learn we have two local breweries in the area.
The Big Boss Brewing Company is located in Raleigh and the Carolina Brewing Company is located in Holly Springs. I had the opportunity to tour the Carolina Brewing Company recently and I highly recommend the tour. Carolina Brewing Bompany holds their free tour every Saturday at 1pm. The Big Boss Brewing Company holds monthly tours every second Saturday of the month at 2pm.
While both local brewers create fantastic beers, my current favorite is the Hell’s Belle Belgian Blonde from Big Boss. Every time I buy a six-pack I enjoy the fact that I’m not just getting some great beer, but I am also helping to support a local business. Support your local economy …. drink more local beer!

Hey NRG, where are you getting these beers? I had the bad fortune of living in Johnston County where they only got around to legalizing the sale of beer in grocery stores in 2006, a few months before I moved back to Texas. The only places to get beer were in a few convenience stores that had restaurants (e.g. Subway, Burger King) in the same building. Yes, the laws down there are - or were? - that whacked out. Anyway, next time I visit I'll try to pick these up.Posted 11-09-2008 at 09:04 PM by jfre81
