Looking for feed-back from African-American families living in Evanston, IL

Posted 06-21-2008 at 05:33 PM by 2yearplan
I am considering a move to Evanston, IL in 2 years. I've been doing lots of research but want to hear from other African-American families who live(d) in Evanston. Is there problems with segration or racists in the community or the high school? I've heard some bad comments on these blogs about such things and am concerned about that. I thought segration was a thing of the past in America!

Black Bear At Mendenhall Glacier

Posted 06-21-2008 at 11:32 AM by Redhawk (The Misadventures of Redhawk)
My daughter and I went for a walk along Steep Creek near Mendenhall Glacier here in Juneau Friday evening around 7PM and we saw a juvenile cinnamon Black Bear grazing on the lush grass along the creek bank.

I grew up in rural south Alabama in the sixties, and except for a hitch in the Air Force in the early seventies lived most of my life there. Over the years I see a multitude of fantastic and quite a few not so fantastic things. I watched Neil Armstrong leave the first footprints in the sterile dust of the moon, and was saddened by the assassination of a president. I’ve seen wars and I’ve seen peace. I’ve seen beauty and I’ve seen beast. But until I came to SE Alaska I had never truly seen the...
