- Queen of Angels Catholics school is now closed and has merged with St. Augustine/St. Edwards Catholic school.
- Austin has some great history besides being the Spam capital of the world. Austin is named after Austin Nichols. The town actually started after famous preacher Billy Sunday came and held a revival in a tent near the Red Cedar River. Chauncy Leverich (one of the town founders) was killed in a tavern kiddy corner from the courthouse square. He is buried in Oakwood Cemetery. The county seat was originally in LeRoy, but men on horseback came and stole the county papers during the middle of the night and made Austin the county seat in Mower County.
