OK.. it's been a long week at work and I didn't feel like cooking dinner so the kids voted to come here. We used to frequent this place when it was the Clubhouse, we came a couple of times after it changed ownership and then apparently it changed hands again. We walk in, (Friday night in Brandon, most places are packed) this place had 3 tables occupied. We sit down and take a look at the flimsy paper menus that have very little to choose from. Husband says "eh, let's go somewhere else" Me, not wanting to get up and walk out, (kinda embarrassing) says "naah, we'll find something here, no biggie". Enters the waitress, takes our drink orders while we mull over the menu. Long story short, (too late, right?) husband and I order cheeseburgers, kid #1 orders chicken fingers and tator tots, kid #2 orders the hot dog and fries. After a timely wait, the food arrives. I dress up my burger while kid #1 looks disgustedly at the very small chicken strips (that cost $6) and kid #2 looks at the hot dog that was dwarfed by the bun. Burger looks good, so whatever. I cut the burger in half and take a bite, hmm.. not bad, bite #2 revealed cold pink hamburger meat. I did order it medium rare but this baby was still kicking. Husband checks out his burger, same thing. I stuck my finger into the pink (haha!) just out of curiousity and discover that the meat is COLD. Yeah, no. I called over our waitress and apologized profusely but said that neither one of us were going to eat our burgers and asked for them to be taken off the bill. She was a sweet heart and profusely apologized. (Oh, and the fries were small, cold and super greasy) I see over my shoulder the waitress talking to a large woman. Large woman comes over, hovers over us and is determined to make us believe that the meat was medium rare as we ordered. Yeah.. NO.. that shit was cold. Nothing medium about it. I smiled through gritted teeth as she keeps trying to convince us that we should come back. She bad mouthed the previous owners, acted like lord god almighty (herself) had swooped and saved the dirty, poorly run place from it's previous owners and offered it salvation with her "fresh home cookin'." So sorry sister, not buying what you're selling. You have a crappy menu, crappy food, and you can't bully people into liking your shit. It wasn't good. It wasn't even close to good. I digress, the tator tots were edible. Even the beer tasted like old tap. Word of advise, sell it and run. This used to be a neighborhood, Friday night standing room only place. *DING, your fries are done. You won't see us again. We miss the Clubhouse.. they served food.
