It is no secret there is a disconnect between Chicago and the State of Illinois. And as with most civil disputes it about money and who gets it. Factually all real estate taxes collected in Cook County remainl local to support the schools. Factually, and after talking to the State Auditor at great length, i can state the monies collected by the state are divided between the cities with the greatest need. Chicago is the largest city, and has a greater need than does Galena or Moline or Peoria or Cairo. .

History tells us Chicago was founded by a black French Canadian who lived in Peoria. History also tells us tha Chicago was a town in Peoria County for several years before Cook County was ever formed. What this initially meant was that its residents traveled 160 miles to Peoria to conduct County business.

Springfield has ignored the plight of Southern Illinois for at least 60-years that I am aware of - and thist is a wrong. The inequity should have been corrected many years ago.

It is time to derail this train of discontent and hatred amongst residents.

From this point forward all negative remarks from one region directed to another in the ILLINOIS FORUMS will be deleted.
