The extension to Aguadilla will be implemented as a PPP.

A company that would build and operate Freeway 222 for the next 50 years at least would be in charge with completing the project in approximately 6 years.

Designs will be finalized soon and the project is supposed to go up for auction by the end of the year.

The segment to Mayagüez would be completed by the government by converting the segment of PR-2 from the last point on the map to Mayagüez.

As you can appreciate in the map, Alternative A, the ideal project, would construct a full-on freeway, just like the current Freeway 22, parallel to PR-2, but without the unnecessary bypass to Quebradillas. It's a more direct route that offers unparalleled convenience with free-flowingness.

The map also shows the three planned exits. The last exit would be part of an avenue that would run all the way to the Aguadilla airport.

This extension is critical to complete the Island Loop.
