Sugar Land has a very large, affluent Muslim population, specifically SE Asian. SW around the Beltway and out towards the Westpark tollway and Hwy 6 has a significant Muslim population that is a bit more humble than Sugar Land. Clear Lake is another place with a significant Muslim population.
Out towards the Northern suburbs of Kingwood and the Woodlands, the Muslim population is a lot less visible although mosques do exist up there.
Overall Houston has a very significant Muslim population and you should not feel unsafe really anywhere in and around the city and nearby suburbs.
