I agree, it's a "great tune," and one of the most recognizable pieces in Russian history.
Only people who mistakenly used it for "Revolution" theme are a bit wrong. This song goes back to Tzarist times; it was written during the first Balkan war in 1912 ( according to Wikipedia,) and when it was used as an "unofficial anthem" during the post-revolutionary civil war, it was actually used by the White Army, not the Red one.

I can only add that this music was used in 1941 during the WWII, when the Soviet troops were marching straight to the front from the Red Square, and from what I see, the composer of this song was conducting the orchestra that day himself))
