Lexington's traffic is pretty bad for a city it's size, that's for sure.

Danville is a nice small town, my favorite in central KY. I'd also consider Frankfort. (Hey, I'm with censusdata on this one.) These are the only two small towns in central KY worth considering, IMO.

Danville has plenty of factory jobs along US 127 and KY 34. There are plenty of retail outlets, including Wal-Mart, Aldi, Kroger, Office Depot, Goody's, Lowe's, JCPenney, and Peebles. There are four colleges--Centre (a prestigious liberal arts college), National Coll., EKU-Danville, and BCTC-Danville. There's the Northpoint Training/Correctional Center on KY 33. What line of work are you looking at? Danville offers quite a bit for a town of only 17,000, and a lot of people still commute to Frankfort or Lexington. As for rent, though, a 2BR will probably rent out at $700 in town.
