I even gave up on the reply and tried a new message, same message.
Copied all of the text I wanted to send, opened a new message copied and pasted, instead of composing message in message window - same message.

Please tell me there is a fix for this!

thanks
Yep, you have to br a member for a bit longer and have several posts before you can use the DM feature.

I've been getting this message too, as a regular lurker. I guess I'll post here and hopefully get my allotment increased.

Yep, That's how it works... New Registered users need to be around for a little while, and post some, then the DM limit is raised.

Cuts Down New Users (Spammers) who just sign up to DM Spam Every One.

Welcome....

Default Direct Message

When I try to send a direct message I get the following although I have never sent a direct message before.

"Sorry, you reached your daily limit of Direct Messages.
Date the restriction will be lifted: in the near future."

Please tell me what to do.

Thanks.

You are restricted because you are new member. Why you want to send DM's to members? You need to first write few posts to be eligible to send DM's.

But the question lingers as to why I have a limit of 4000 and a long time friend has a limit of 1000?
(or 1500 I'd have to go back and check to see what their limit was per a DM)

I thought that limit just had to do with the storage space within your DM folder. I thought if one got rid of old stored DMs that one would have more available space to store. ?

That is true. My limit is 4000. It shows the limit to me. I can create room for 50 more by deleting 50 from the sent box or the inbox.

I have a limit of 4000 but a friend has a limit of less than 2000 and they have been a member for about two years. Is the limit (with a max of 4000) related to number of post in some way?
