Just curious, who are the moderators on these forums? Do they have a day time job? Are they getting paid in any way for being moderators? No offense whatsoever, simply wondering, because they must spend much of their day here.

Most large sites have a lot of them and take turns watching the shop so to speak. Plus the report a post function is designed to either blast an email or show when they logon. Usually big sites have many mods.

There's a list of the mods in the FAQ section. And there are more just keeping an eye out. Yes -- we either have day jobs or are retired. No pay for this. And while I do check in several times a day, some have a few forums, and check in daily.

The moderators and the forums they moderate are listed here: http://www.city-data.com/forum/faq/1...ator-list.html

The moderators do not get paid.

I don't know who works and who does not work or what their hours might be...

Lately I have not been able to keep up with my mod duties. But thankfully several other mods have been covering for me. Just want to thank them deeply for taking up the slack.

None of us get paid, but most of us feel it is a very rewarding avocation. some of us are disabled and pretty much homebound, it is nice to simply be able to do something helpful. Many others are mods simply because they are contributing to what they feel is worthwhile.
