I'd like to make a request to the mods that when they close a thread that they explain why. Some do but a lot of times they just say it is closed with no explanation for why.

Maybe they think it is obvious, but not always. If I knew why a thread is closed, then I and others can better understand the rules here. Sometimes, it just seems arbitrary or because a mod seems to disagree with the posters. An explanation for why would go a long ways towards increasing understanding.

Don't get me wrong - I like this being a moderated forum as it keeps it from getting nasty or overwhelmed with spam. I just think a reason cited would help us all.

Sometimes we just don't want to bump such a thread back up with a new post. But you're right the reason may not always be obvious. This is because you can't see all the deleted posts except your own. Threads are never closed because a moderator disagrees with anyone. This is not what we're here for.

Does editing bump a thread? If not, perhaps mods could edit the final post so folks who are interested can understand the reasoning. One quick line would be sufficient ("Closed to end the bickering" -- modname). Then, the offending thread would have closure but still maintain its rapid descent to the bottom of the deck.

While some problematic threads are quite obvious, other threads die a quick death -
no point in continuing.
Yes, all Mods do leave a reasonable comment for all corrections.
