How do I remove my account?
Hi...sorry to ask a dumb question, but couldn't find the answer for myself...how do I delete my city-data account? Also, can someone get my email address or any information about me by asking a moderator?
Thanks,
Dispatch

We generally don't delete our members accounts. It is often so that our members come back after a long while with a new question and if they start a new account to ask them, this might set off our "more than one account per person" alarm.
There is no way any mod would give out any of your personal information, including your e-mail. If someone sends you an e-mail through our forum, he or she still will not know your e-mail address until you reply - that's how the system works.

Since Dispatch only has 14 posts, I peeked at them briefly and they mostly have to do with searching for his/her father. It makes sense to me why Dispatch might want to delete his/her account . But if it cannot be deleted, maybe a Mod can EDIT any prior posts that might have too much identifying info???
Would 'editing' info out of your prior posts help you Dispatch? If so, maybe DMing Yac with the changes will work just as well for you !

Hi and thanks to you all for posting back to me.
The thread I started entitled "Looking For Father In England" was at first (what I thought) going to be a good thing. I have gone to the UK to meet him, that turned out to be one of the biggest mistakes I have ever made. My husband and I got there on a Thursday for a 2 week holiday, and were on the 1st flight out Monday morning back to the US. He is my father, but he is not the wonderful man he portayed himself to be, and neither is the brother who posted to me. My father actually encouraged me to make the post saying we had found each other (which ok-fine, it was a successful thread), and wanted me to add he never knew about me...well, he did know about me all those years ago, and that was soon discovered after I got there, and then further confirmed upon my return to the US. It was an awful experience, and I know the thread has been plastered all over the net. I have refrained from retracting my posting in that thread about finding him because I don't want to take "cheap shots", and go on and on about what he really is. I went out on a emotional limb to find him, feel like I put my head on the chopping block, then got it cut off.
I like this forum...can read/learn lots of info, and contribute, so deleting my account would be a disappointment to me, but if we can get rid of that whole thread I started, I would be happy. If that is not a possibility, then maybe a pleasant (for lack of better term) retraction in that thread would be ok if I can muster up the words carefully. I am just trying to avoid further problems for myself.
It is nice to know my personal information can not be given out, THANKS much for that!!! Two plus two is four, so it has not taken many people much time to figure out who I am, which is fine, that's how I have learned so much about the UK family, just wish I had known prior to my head being chopped off.
I am open for suggestions.
