Genealogy Forum??
Is there any interest in a forum that focuses on Genealogy? (one of my hobbies for 20+ years now - a popular one and growing)
I think there would be a lot of potential advise/discussion of how-to, not just, am looking for "so-and-so."

Absolutely agree - great idea to have a gen forum. Sharing ideas for brick walls would be invaluable.

Yes, there is a lot of detailed "know-how" to doing genealogy skillfully.

We're still trying to find out where one of my great-great grandfathers is buried. We have the notice of his death, but no location of burial. As my brother who has been pursuing this says, "He died in February and it was really cold that year. Since the ground was frozen hard as a rock they probably put him in the back of a wagon and waited until spring. Our families were on the move then so they could have hauled him anywhere." Things weren't so simple before backhoes...
Good idea. I think the main discussion now is in Hobbies.

On Dec. 11th I suggested a Genealogy forum in the Suggestions for new forums thread of About the forum. I do hope someone will take our suggestions and provide this forum for those of us seriously interested.

New Forum ?
I started a thread in the Hobby forum titled "Genealogy" in which I commented about the hobby as a whole. I really didn't expect any comments. Low and behold I started to get feedback from experienced researchers who agreed with me.
Eventually I was encouraged to form a group in the Social Groups and I did. Genealogy Group is the name.
The bottom line is we would like C-D to open a Genealogy Forum. The reason being Social Groups do not allow posting of new threads - and it is not as easy to find as a Forum.
Also to consider is this: Genealogy is not a passing fad; it is over 100 years old. And for a serious hobby it does have a very large following. Treudyrose from History Forum agreed to moderate.
Thank you.

I think all good genealogy forums are a mix of brickwalls, roll calls, suggestions, solutions and stories.
