I really, really wish this forum had an avatar option.

When I post a whole sentence in bold, that's moderator action. The TOS says you can discuss moderator action only via Direct Message.
Everything else I post is OK to discuss/question/disagree with in the forum.

Maybe CD could sell avatars. They should bring a pretty penny.

If it ever came down to a choice, I would rather have avatars than rep.
To me, the rep thing is totally useless.
btw: I'm sending some green to the OP.

The functional utility of making someone's morning with a reputation boost and pat on the back is difficult for some folks to see.
It is a GIVING thing.
Giving is good and useful. Rewardingly fulfilling. Wonderful.
Can someone GIVE me an avatar in agreement with a post? Hope not. Sounds like catching swine flu...

Mike, your post gave me an idea of another way to look at this.
Avatars are about expressing individuality. They're a way of telling the world "Look at me and how special I am."
Reputation is about expressing appreciation for others in the community. Giving rep is a way of saying "Thank you for what you contribute to the community."
IMO, we're fortunate to be posting at a place where it's easier to say "Thank you" than "Look at me."

Thanks for the green, dude. I need all the help I can get!
How about signature lines? I really, really wish you guys had them on this forum.
I'd like to be able to express myself!

Signature lines are intolerable imo. I even disabled it on my corporate email, until HR told me to reinstall it ; )
