Including multiple quotes in posts
Hello -
How do you quote just small portions of multiple posters in 1 post? I know how to quote the whole comment & can delete a bit, but at times I've wanted to refer to portions of multiple posts & can't figure it out.
Can someone direct me to where I'd find this info on the forum?
Thank you very much! ...VV

To do this, I copy and paste each section of the quote I'd like to respond to one at a time. I often will pull up two separate screens, one I'm using to reply, and the other I use to copy the quotes. There's probably an easier way, but this works for me!

Just make sure that you begin each quote with [ quote ] and end it with
.
Note: no spaces between the brackets and "quote" (had to do that so it wouldn't be an actual quote.

It's a good idea to keep two windows or tabs open. You can do it simply as Austin Traveler suggested, copying and pasting the relevant lines between these tags:

It will give you this result:

To do this, I copy and paste each section of the quote I'd like to respond to one at a time.

However, if you need the actual link to the post you're quoting, the tag looks like this:

where with the initial tag you've got: "= author;post number"
It yelds this result (notice the little arrow next to the author's name - it takes you to the quoted post:

Looking for an explanation/instruction on how to use the new multi-quote feature.

I don't see how this is a duplicate topic. When these other posts were posted the 'multi-quote' feature wasn't even available.

There was a forum software upgrade performed today that created a new Multi-Quote button. Previously, you could only multi-quote manually. Now you can click on the Multi-Quote button next to each post that you want to quote and then click "Quote" next to one of them and you'll have corresponding posts quoted in your reply.

Remember, the term "multi-quote" can have more than one meaning. If one wants to quote from multiple messages, the new multi-quote button makes this easy. If one wants to break up a single quote from a single message into multiple quotes in order to reply to each point, that still requires some knowledge of the BBS code to get it right.
