I knew a 96 year old man who adopted his caretaker because he feared his children would contest his will where he left a sizeable portion to this caretaker. She had been with him and his wife for 25 years and was devoted to them and never took more than her salary. He said it was either marry her or adopt her.

I'm in my 30s and often wish someone would adopt me.
