My husband, son, and I are thinking of doing a trip with Ties (Homeland Journey to Russia) -- Moscow and time in St. Petersburg with an orphanage visit in July 2017. My son who was adopted from St. Petersburg, Russia will be 21, and we think it he'd really enjoy getting to see Russia / also he thinks this would be cool to do too - it seems like the right time. I was first considering independent travel for more control (condo by grocery store, just St. Petersburg, and lower cost). But we after talking about it all thought doing this trip in a group with other international adoptees and their parents going through some of the same emotions and a leader with lots of experience doing trips like this would be the way to go and worth the extra cost. They limit group size to 20, and typically most of the adoptees are 16 or older. They had a 19 year old and two in their 20s this past year.

Is anyone familiar with the Ties organization and if so, what can you tell us about them. Or have you perhaps done a homeland journey with them? If so, I'd love to hear from you.

I talked to the director of the program and got an information packet and it sounds and looks great. I, though, haven't been able to see any reviews except for testimonials on their website.

I appreciate any and all information that you might have.
