As a Christian conservative....all I can say is that I've worked with some gay people who I would FAR prefer as parents over some of the straight parents I've seen.
i think that the equivalent of our CPS probably got it right.
they vetted potential couples and found the best fit.
the grandparents might just want something to complain about in order to get the kids. it could have been... that couple is mixed jew and catholic! or, that couple is black!!! in this case the best potential parents happened to be gay. big deal. obviously there was enough support to place these kids with the gays. let it stand.
while not extremely old, the grannies are older than most parents and face life with medical complications. that would be tough. and i also think if aunties or uncles where available they would have stepped up.
i think whoever chose the couples got it right.
lets just focus on providing these children with the best possible home.
This is very weird. We are of approximately same ages as these "grandparents" and our KIDS are 4 and 5. Who would be seriously thinking of taking our kids from us based on our age or health? Nowadays, young people, if they are obese, face death BEFORE their parents. Diabetis, high blood pressure, auto-immune diseases are becoming the curses of the young. Should we take their kids away from them based on their health?
I've seen some pretty hideous grandparents-raising-grandchildren situations (and of course, fine ones too). If they didn't get get custody I would guess there are probably some reasons why that they failed to mention in the haste to bring up the fact that the adopters were gay.
