Default You go...Gabon!!!

I think this is the richest country in sub-sahara Africa. Richer than Bulgaria, Romania, Turkey and Mexico.

Oil (and to a lesser extent minerals and timber) has made the country, especially those of the ruling elite, wealthy. French aid from being France's ally also helped, along with the political stability of the Omar Bongo era (1967-2009). The fact that Gabon is one of the wealthiest countries in Africa comes as no surprise to me.

Libreville is a nice city - I visited it in 2010. It is built along the Atlantic coast and has a miles of beaches. It was also surprisingly cool considering it is like right on the equator. Was there in June (so during summer) and temperatures were always around the high 60s, low 70s. Probably due to being on the coast, but it was nice - not too hot or too cold.

There's a big casino and some museums, but other than that it didn't seem like there was much to see or do except hang out near the water. There's also not much in the rest of the country either - it's mostly all jungle.
