A parasite that has plagued the human race since antiquity is poised to become the second human disease after smallpox to be eradicated. “We are approaching the demise of the last guinea worm who will ever live on earth,” says former U.S. president Jimmy Carter, whose Carter Center has spearheaded the eradication effort.

First smallpox, then guinea worm, and probably polio. Next will be HIV/AIDS, and within my lifetime we'll likely see the eradication of disease as a whole.

Nah, Polio is making a comeback thanks to all the anti-vaccination freaks that bought in to the fraudulent autism "study" out of Britain.

Some still cling to their religion, citing the 0.01% that have bad reactions to vaccinations and would rather have 100-1000x as many ravaged by polio instead.

Measles outbreak from unvaccinated

And the Taliban have banned polio vaccinations in Afghanistan as a protest against the US. A bizarre act as the people who will suffer the most are the Afghan people. Look for a polio outbreak in the summer of 2013.
