There are places in the USA, where you don't even step out of your car to go and lift the hood, without looking carefully for snakes. All kinds of critturs get under cars, or up under the hood.

Is the OP suggesting that Africa is the only place where snakes get under the hood, and practically all car hoods in Africa have snakes under them?

I now have a rather large bump on my forehead due to slamming it on my keyboard after reading your comment.

Thanks a lot.

quite unwillingly, I shared a portacamp unit with a black mamba the entire time I was in coastal Nigeria, Cross River State, between the towns of Uyo and Abak.

There have been incidents in Germany where cars have been rendered useless because the wires underneath the hood were chewed apart by rodents. It can happen in Europe too.

A few years back, my DH was parking his truck outside the driveway in a weedy side yard for a month or so. He started having problems with some things and took it in to the garage.....lo and behold, a family of rats had built a nest somewhere around the engine. they pulled out handsful of weedy material and showed my husband. It was funny...we thought.

I have driven 10-15-maybe 20 miles and discovered small kittens up under the hood. Never killed them but boy were they traumatized.....

I live in USA, Florida, next to the mouse.......
