Wondering if anyone would like to chat about Uganda. My dh and I lived there for 2 years while he volunteered (NOT religion!). We are going back to visit in January after being back home 3 years.

Anyone lived there, visited, wants to visit, etc?

I was there in 1976 for about ten days, during the Idi Amin regime, so I doubt if my recollections would be very similar to yours. It is my understanding that life there is now fairly civil, and that crazy religious guy is only operating out in the far corners of the country.

Very different there now. Still poor but very safe in most areas. Which crazy religious guy?

Lord's Resistance Army. I couldn't think of the name of it when I posted above.

Oh right. I don't think of them as religious, but they were originally begun that way - some lady saying she was directed by the Holy Spirit. They are still around but the north is much safer now. Our organization didn't allow us to go to the northern areas, not that we wanted to. It was very safe where we were.
