I posted a similar thread in the Latin America forum, but I wanted to know where you guys see certain countries on the Continent in the near future. Obviously, it's not the wisest idea to write about each country, so I'm asking for your 2 cents for the countries that interest you!

So, where do you see those countries in 2020?

I'm not sure what you mean. I haven't heard too much about the country and the country doesn't seem that important geopolitically speaking.

I kind of view it the same way I do Portugal: A quaint, small country in the corner of its proverbial world. Not going to do much, but then again, it doesn't really want to anyway.

What about Ethiopia? I definitely see it growing as it has been (rapidly). Also, the African Union is finally starting to be SOMETHING, and as its HQ is in Ethiopia, I find this will only help Ethiopia.

Also, Ethiopia is improving relations with Eritrea, Djibouti, and Somalia, as it should. Access to the ocean is one of the single most important things a country can have.

I also see Mozambique rising out of nowhere. The country has the potential to be the breadbasket of (at least) Southern Africa. It has also curbed it AIDS rate will expect rapid growth. More immigrants are pouring in, and is one of the few African countries with a government that seems legitimately interested in the common people.

In Southern Africa, I can definitely see Angola and Mozambique working together to start usurping South Africa's dominance, especially with South Africa's internal craziness at the moment.

I also have high hopes for Ghana. Higher hopes than I do for Nigeria...

In seven years, Africa will be the exact same as now, which is what it has been for as long as recorded time.

Unfortunately I don't think Africa will progress much. The last 50 years and all this foreign aid and many feel the continent is worse off. TIA. Sad but there hasn't been enough bloodshed to stop the violence. I mean sub Saharan Africa. Egypt and the life will become terrorist hotbeds, wait they already are.
