The other day I ran across the concept of a unified Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, and Burundi, and I was intrigued. I know that Tanzania is actually a union between Zanzibar and the mainland, and I thought it was interesting that the idea has been floated to apply to the region. I'm wondering what peoples' thoughts are on the idea.
It might still be the case, it certainly was for many years after independence, that Kanya, Tanzania and Uganda were in a postal union. You could buy stamps at any post office in those countries with all three countries named on the stamps, and they could be used in any of the three countries.
They've been talking about this since at least 2007.
The way I see it, it really doesn't matter one way or the other.
The only question I see is whether we'll ever consider ourselves as part of a nation, or whether we'll always be tribalists first and nationals second. Until we can definitively answer that question, the federation talk is just that.
We have to ask ourselves this; "What is the end game?".

Also, from my perspective, we'd do better to align with Somalia as well...
