I didn't care for Gate's petty name calling in regards to Moyo's book. She knows the long term effects of aid money from the west (this does not include disaster relief aid, as she said many times) and how it doesn't constitute long lasting change.

Interesting stuff. She has placed herself in a position to make a real difference.

But those who clamor for more aid will have to abandon their long held positions, and most simply will not be able to do so. Politicians who attempt to reduce aid to African countries will suffer the consequences. The low information voters, who are so influential now in the U.S., would never stand for it. Even worse, an American corporation who attempts a start up in an African country will be accused of exporting jobs.

As someone commented, there are problems with universal suffrage.
