And Latin countries don't? Then tell us why in almost every single Latin American nation the media is disproportionately white and the overwhelming majority of the darkest people are among the poorest.

Maybe you guys should care more about races so the blatant racism which is so evident will be reduced.

By the way an black Minister of government in Italy was called a monkey by an MP. Do you think that this would happen in the USA, UK, or Canada? And about those banana incidents at football matches in Spain and Italy....................

Most definitely yes, and even worse than that.

The word "Hispanic" was coined by the US to identify people who came from Latin America or Spain, so people who lived in other colonies of Spain, that may have Spanish last names or may speak Spanish, like Equatioral Guinea or the Philippines, are not counted as Hispanics by the United States.

It's funny because Spaniards do not like being called hispanics in the US.

The government made up that word, because during the Civil Rights Act, Blacks gained the ability to have special ways to have protections against discriminations, and then the Mexicans and Puerto Ricans and other Latin American immigrants at the time also claimed that they were being discriminated, even though they were classified as being "White" at the time, so they wanted a racial/ethnic name for themselves so they could get programs that catered to them as minorities.

It makes sense, that a new name had to made that could describe Latin Americans as being of one ethnic group/race/culture. Now other words like "Latino" have also been used as well.

Some people from Equatorial Guinea do identify as Spanish, as they studied here and hold Spanish passports, etc. Was Spanish until 1968. In such a way, they are related at least culturally with Latin America, as Angolans might feel some affinity with Brazil.

Hispanic is an American figment.

It's a USA made up identity and some do their best to impose it on people who want no part of it.

Does it really matter since their is no pure race. Furthermore different culture and nations are establishing their own unique identity outside of the western and anglo saxons culture.
