No secret. Just fear and intimidation, plus buying votes when necessary.
I guess he will die in office. No Catholic funeral for him, please!

He wants to KILL the gays? Black Africans seem to eat that kind of hate up.

What do you mean, "what's his secret"??! It's no secret! Ballot-stuffing, promising jobs, land or other benefits to people, having his thugs threaten people, death threats to opposition candidates so they drop out, or faking a scandal involving an opposition leader, and so on. This has been going on for decades, there's no secret! This is one of Africa's greatest tragedies, where has the OP been?

If he dies tomorrow, it'll be about 25 years too late.

I was being sarcastic. It was a mistake too for western countries to back him instead of more moderate political leaders during the struggle for independence from White minority rule.

Western leaders didn't back him. China and Romania did. Russia and Bulgaria backed Joshua Nkomo. The West backed Bishop Muzorewa. Jimmy Carter kind of sat of the fence, not really endorsing either side.

The opposition is saying it was an unfair election, maybe. However Mugabe would win in a fair election as well. Many support his policies and he is a liberation figure. The opposition has been bought and paid off. They're really not much better.

Where's the evidence he would win a "fair" election?
