Well that would solve alot to trading and infrastructure problems. Looks like this will become a reality in 2015.

Update: allAfrica.com: East Africa: EAC Political Federation Taking Shape Despite Fears (Page 1 of 2)

Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda are now finalizing the future formation of a federation. Burundi and Tanzania are unfortunately not joining the new federation and Tanzania is protesting the federation by the 3 countries.

Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, and South Sudan launched a single Customs Union so the borders are eliminated.

It doesn't say who they're trying to isolate and why.

They are not trying to isolate Tanzania, it's more like Tanzania doesn't want to progress too quickly because of the problems with labour.

But South Sudan is probably joining the Federation as it participates in the Customs Union... Hmmm South Sudan broke off from Sudan a few years ago just to rejoin another group..
