Africa has more natural resources than any other continent.

Gold, platinum, diamonds, oil, arable land, coal, copper, etc--you name it and Africa probably has it. Recently, scientists discovered huge groundwater reserves all across the continent.

Why does the continent have so many resources? Does it have anything to do with Africa's alleged status as the motherland?

SSShhhhh because no one knew about it before you posted. Now they’ll build Walmarts all over the place, build roads, and people will start moving in soon and all those resources will be gone.

Spoiler
Maybe it’s been a high cost factor to acquire the raw materials?

Because it's larger than any other continent? North America has a lot of natural resources. As far as who has the most per sq. mile, I don't know.

Asia is the largest continent; Africa is the second-largest.

The bigger question is why haven't more African countries been able to benefit from those natural resources?

I think it would help if more African countries looked to a country like Norway to learn how to do this.
