This is a good list to look over. Also look on Youtube for some interesting Cape Town videos. Where are you staying and for how long? The Rand is a bit more than 10 to the dollar now, which is good for those going over.

1) Cape Point. Make sure to drive one way along the False Bay Coast, and the other drive over Chapman's Peak. When driving along False Bay be sure to stop off at Boulders Beach in Simon's Town to visit the penguin colony. The restaurant at Cape Point has one of the most majestic views in the world, plan on a meal there. Just outside the gates of the Cape Point park are tradesmen selling souvenirs. This is one of the best places to buy African arts and crafts. Give yourself the better part of a day for this trip.

2) Robben Island boat trip from the Waterfront to see the prison where Nelson Mandela spent most of his incarceration.

3) Go up Table Mountain in the cable car. Watch the weather very carefully, and only go up if there is no cloud cover and no strong winds.

4) Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens in Newlands. Beautiful and a very nice restaurant. They have great outdoor concerts here in the summer.

5) About an hour north of Cape Town, Strandloper is one of the most beautiful restaurants in the world. Fresh seafood is served to you as you sit on the beach.

6) Some of the historic wine farms are beautiful. Both Spier and Boschendal have picnic restaurants that are stunning.

7) Cheetah Outreach

8) Gansbaai, west of Cape Town have boat trips out to Seal Island, and to Shark Alley to see the great white sharks, or dive with them if absolutely necessary.
