hmmm..what was it? 27 years in prison? It's evident he was a man with extraordinary self-belief and an insatiable drive for a goal. Mandela, in a football vein, of course, would be the outstanding 'finisher' among world leaders.

Mandela was a true African that all can be proud of. He persevered through unusual circumstances (like most Africans)he probably thought once jailed that he would die there. He probably thought his people would never be free let alone that he would be President of his country one day. His experience is really the African experience which is simply to be grateful for just being alive. His confinement would have made anyone bitter and angry but he kept his pride, happiness, joy, and respect for life alive. Ultimately, his life is a testament to never give up. RIP Mandela your legacy lives on!
