I didn't know it and am glad to hear it. They have a simply amazing history- a great, great people who developed their own form of writing, had one of the three richest empires in the world, and several interesting forms of architecture ranging from castle building to carving surrealistically beautiful churches right out of rock,

I would say that among Sub-Saharan Africa, in terms of visible growth..

Angola is clearly number one. The growth in the country, especially Luanda is jaw-dropping

Ethiopia, Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, Rwanda and Tanzania are in the next tier.

Not to mention being the only African country to successfully resist European colonization.

This is true but Liberia did not have to resist. Ethiopia actually defeated the Italians at the battle of Adowa.

For some reason I found this sidenote hilarious. But it a sign. How things will have changed when we start to talk about light rail vs. bus rapid transit when we think of Ethiopia.

Angola has billionaires! But Ethiopia just like the rest of Africa is emerging FAST! Many of the world's resources come from the continent while other places are loosing theirs. Although the Continent is emerging hopefully it will give hope to the impoverished and opportunities created for the poor.

Yes but that's not the whole story, the italians came back and defeated the ehtiopians, then the english army intervened to help the ethiopians to get rid of the italians.
