Tunisia or Algiers? Which would you rather visit?

And, of course, the million dollar question, WHY?

Tunisia, seems more safe and less religious.

Is Algiers dangerous now? I haven't heard of much of either place recently. I do remember some unrest in Tunisia a few years ago though...

I've been to Tunisia, it's a very nice country, people are really nice ans it's not expensive. Concerning Algeria, it's not a touristic country.
I have many Algerians friends, it's better to go there when you know someone. I'm not saying it's dangerous.

Algeria seems more interesting for visiting, it blew my mind when I saw pictures of it here on C-D about a year ago.

Tunisia however has more promising future.

When I was on the southern coast of Spain and could see Africa on the horizon, I didn't really have a choice so I took the hydrofoil to Tangier for a day trip. I know it isn't one of the cities asked about, but it's in the area.

I would skip those two and go to Morocco, but if that wasn't an option, then Tunisia.
