The $475 million Light Rail Project is a joint venture between Ethiopia and China and the first of its kind for the city and sub-Saharan Africa..

"There has been a lot of positive economic development in the last 20 years," Dr Getachew Betru, CEO of Ethiopian Railways Corporation, told CNN.

At the moment that means taking 60,000 people who live in the suburbs and bringing them towards the center to work: "You would not imagine to have that in a sub-Saharan city".Ethiopia gets first sub-Saharan Africa metro - CNN.com

So it shows that Ethiopia is leading the way for sub-Saharan countries in Africa

Ethiopia is a sovereign nation. It is their decision. The Chinese company is a contractor. The credit goes to Ethiopia for pursuing a better life for its citizens.

It doesn't matter who's leading the way for who as long as it's not the European countries exploiting resources right?

Lol, so credit goes to the consumer for making the "sovereign" decision to purchase, not the producer for actually making the product?

You buy a Toyota, therefore credit for that engineering marvel goes to you, and not Toyota?
You eat at a fine restaurant, therefore credit for the gourmet meal goes to you, and not the chef?
You buy an album, therefore credit for that music goes to you, and not the artist?

Seriously, what kind of mentality pats themself on the back and takes credit for a consumer product/service they merely purchased?

That was an amazing book I just read...damn I'm good!
