Black Americans live in one of the richest, if not the richest, countries in the world. You can expect third-world poverty within America where people don't have access to clean water, etc.

The exits of various EU nations from their African, Latin American, and Asian colonial holdings was often quite messy and once again done solely for their benefit, leaving power and economic vacuums that in many cases still exist today.
I agree. I guess some people, which is evident in this thread, just don't want to see the connection between the two.

The IQ thing is too simplistic. You are overlooking too many other factors that can explain Africa's post colonial underdevelopment.

After gaining independence too many of Africa's new leaders chose bad models for development. Like state socialism and authoritarian governments. They should have chosen some form of mixed economies for their particular country and more flexible political systems.

Africans actually did a decent job of ruling themselves in pre-colonial times:

The Luba empire's expansion was due to its development of a form of government that was durable enough to withstand the disruptions of succession disputes and flexible enough to incorporate foreign leaders and governments. Based on twin principles of sacred kingship (balopwe) and rule by council, the Luba model of statecraft was adopted by the Lunda and spread throughout the region that is today northern Angola, northwestern Zambia, and southern Democratic Republic of Congo.

At its peak, the Mali Empire extended across West Africa to the Atlantic Ocean and incorporated an estimated 40 to 50 million people. The administration of such an enormous territory was formidable and relied on the establishment of a government sensitive to the diversity of the land, population and cultures and accepting of the indigenous rulers and their customs. What distinguished the empires of West Africa, particularly Mali and later Songhay, was their ability to centralize political and military power while allowing the local rulers to maintain their identities along side Islam...

Lol, look at this nonsense. Listen, when people moved, it wasnt usually because they were curious. Its because they had no other choice. Europeans and asians didnt move because they were like "why not?" Its because they couldn't compete with the ones that stayed. They had no choice but to pack up and leave, they couldn't fight, so they took flight.

Yes, perhaps flight is associated with intelligence. But fight vs flight are both viable survival strategies. Ask a black man, would you rather be a coward or stupid? He will say stupid. Ask a white man that, they will say a coward.

Complete nonsense many moved because they wanted land. Many Europeans owned very small plots of land but had huge families generation after generation the plots became smaller and smaller due to being divided up it became more and more difficult to grow enough food to support a family.

Your hypothetical example of asking a white man and then asking a black man is laughable.

So maybe civilized folks didn't want to have to keep fighting parasitic bullies (who had to steal or use force because they couldn't compete fairly?), and so started "White Flight" probably tens or hundreds of thousands of years ago? And continues on to this day in cities like Detroit, etc...

LOL. Are you seriously delusional enough to make up stuff like this to make yourself feel better? If the "ones that stayed" were so strong and good at fighting, why didn't they colonize Europe and Asia and make those people slaves?

I don't think that is a fair comparison. Hong Kong is merely a city and it was annexed by China, a huge industrialized and developed country.

Different colonies were treated and administered differently.

Another former British colony - and a rather large country - is Myanmar (formerly Burma) and it is mired in political corruption and poverty. I just looked it up and Myanmar ranks at #150 in the Human Development Index ... very poor. Yet Myanmar, like many African countries, is rich in natural resources.

It would have been good if African leaders in central and southern Africa could have figured out how to modernized their pre-colonial governing styles.
