Europe has been prosperous for thousands of years. That Africans had any part whatsoever in "building Europe" is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. And even if they did work as slaves here, it doesn't mean they built Europe. It's the brains that build things. The architects. The artists. Kings and businessmen who supply the money. Not the workers themselves, for they are always replaceable. Benjamin Franklin, Henry Ford, Andrew Carnegie, Cornelius Vanderbilt, John D Rockefeller, Andrew Mellon... those are the guys that built America, not the peasants picking the cotton (whether they'd be White or Black).

By the way, fun fact: Black men were about 10 times as likely to own black slaves in America compared to White people. White people saved black people from the terrible conditions in Africa. White people freed them from the slavery that they were already in when they bought them from African slave traders. Black people in America should thank White people for everything that they have.

Stop being such racists people. White people are not evil.

What kind of wealth produced in Haiti was that crucial to france's economy?

Turns out that the UK and France not only benefitted from their own involvement in slavery (both the trade itself and wealth generated from the Caribbean slave societies), but also from purchases made by Spain/Portugal, neither of which developed manufacturing sectors so bought industrial goods from northern Europe.
True that, unlike what many Brazilians say a great deal of the wealth produced in colonial Brazil was reinvested locally in order to solidify the crown's presence. Would you consider it a positive type of colonialism?

Actually, Islamic invasions destroyed Europe's culture and instigated the Dark Ages.
1. Conquest of the Christian Levant and N. Africa, Spain, and the loss of Constantinople,
2. Commerce raiding in the Mediterranean Sea, slave raids, etc,
3. Incessant attacks upon non-Muslim countries,
4. The 'preservation' of European knowledge was due to the captured slaves translating the classics for the Muslim masters.

Oh dear god!!

Haiti was a crucial money spinner for France, in fact it was the loss of Haiti with the successful Haitian revolution that lead to the French selling their interests in the America (Louisiana) because it was that economically important.

In fact it was so valuable to the French that Napoleon himself sent 20,000 troops to retake it.

Seriously some folks like you need to read some books before posting !!!!

Northern Europe was quite poor and backward. The Mediterranean Europe benefited from its proximity to north east Africa and south west Asia.

Like I said you are a troll.

It is a known fact that white supremacists visit various forums on CD. They normally hang out on the Political Commentary side, which is why I stopped going there. Periodically they get bored and find other sites to indulge in their usual rants about white superiority.

Sugar, which in the 18th century was as valuable as oil is today.

You are a troll.
